Title: Data Engineer Intern
Time Frame: Summer 2024 6/3/24 to 8/9/24

Job Purpose:
This role is designed to provide hands on experience in analysis and problem solving relating to data, types of data, and relationships among data elements within business functions and systems to support the TruStage Direct-to-Consumer Analytics department within our Consumer Experience Unit. Candidates will have the opportunity to apply what they have learned in a classroom environment while gaining new skills in a dynamic professional setting. The Customer Experience Unit is responsible for driving customer loyalty and revenue by delivering solutions to our customer’s business challenges and differentiating ourselves in the marketplace.
As a Data Engineer Intern, you will work with a team of Data Engineers and Data Scientists to support data definition, data management process definition, and data quality levels for specific data subject areas. This role requires critical attention to detail in a fast-paced environment, self-motivation, and resourcefulness to solve problems and answer questions. The ideal candidate will have course work experience with accessing and analyzing data warehouses and relational databases with a desire to move into a data engineering or data analytics career after graduation.
Job Responsibilities:
Expect to work within a fast-paced, innovative culture. You’ll experience conducting research on data ETL processes, partner with IT, Data Governance, and Legal to source data needs and define appropriate usage of data, support ongoing maintenance and refresh of analytics data needs, prepare written reports, resolve problems and/or issues and attend and participate in meetings.
Job Requirements:
Working towards a relevant degree or equivalent work experience
Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills
Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills.
Excellent communications skills
Intellectual curiosity and the desire to learn.
Preferred Experience:
Must be currently enrolled in an undergrad or graduate program working towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Management Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Analytics or related major.
Experience in accessing and analyzing data warehouses and relational databases, preferably using SQL.
Ability to interpret data models in conjunction with exploratory analysis of a database and get data into and out of tools (basic ETL).
Experience in using higher-level scripting language such as Python, R, or JavaScript is desirable.
Ability to communicate clearly through oral presentation to a general audience.

Base Salary Range:
$18.00 – $28.00
