S&ME is looking for an eager and dedicated full-time Staff Industrial Hygienist to join our Environmental team in Charlotte, North Carolina.

About the Role:

As a Staff Industrial Hygienist, you will work with little supervision, perform assessment or sampling on projects and some limited project management, prepare written reports, manage data, maintain equipment, prepare some limited fee proposals, and business development. Projects typically involve asbestos, lead-based paint, and indoor air quality.

  • Field Data Collection: Perform hazardous materials assessments and/or asbestos air sampling projects using standardized procedures, exercising judgment as to the completeness and accuracy of the data. Submit samples to the laboratory using the required quality procedures. Evaluate data and prepare for reporting.
  • Proposal Preparation: Create project proposal drafts and perform hazardous materials assessments using standardized procedures, exercising judgment as to the completeness and accuracy of the data.
  • Business Development: Participate on committees of local professional organizations and accompany more senior staff on client/project visits or meetings.
  • Mentoring/Training: Assist or train junior staff with field data collection and field observation tasks.

About You:

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety and Health, or other related sciences
  • You have a minimum of 2 years of industrial hygiene field sampling experience
  • You have good business and technical writing skills
  • You have Asbestos Inspector and Air Sampler accreditation, a plus

Are You Willing and Able to:

Perform the physical demands of the position with the use of company-provide Personal Protective Equipment such as:

  • Working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Traveling out-of-town (typically overnight) for assignments as necessary
  • Working outside of normal business hours when necessary
