Summary
The VP Finance Global Grain – International is a critical leadership role at CHS, providing strategic financial leadership and supporting transformation, growth and profitability at the international business unit. The VP Finance-International reports to the Ag Business CFO and is a close partner of the GGP leadership team and is a member of the Ag Business Finance Leadership Team. The VP of Finance is a leader who builds world class capabilities in CHS’s finance function. She/he requires superior financial acumen, a strong internal control focus, business partner and enterprise mindset, leadership skills, collaboration and impactful communications are critical qualities. The person in this role will serve as a business partner, a strategic adviser and a sound board to the Ag Business CFO, the international finance leaders, the international business leaders and other members of the organization. The role is based in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota and oversees a 120+ person global finance team.
Responsibilities
Reporting and Controls
- Continually pursues strengthening of the internal control environment and SOX compliance
- Drives the preparation of timely and accurate financial reports for the division, including segment management and statutory reporting and analysis of performance, variance and cash flow in accordance with GAAP
- Ensures the fiscal integrity of the business through enhancement and management of accounting systems and controls
- Leads deficiency remediation across the Ag Business platform
- Partners with the all corporate functions to ensure all international operations follow standard procedures and company policies, always pursuing best in class processes
Business Partner
- Builds trust through proactive, candid communication & partnerships
- Develops deep organizational, customer and industry knowledge to support the business unit Leads and supports the implementation of the finance operating model in alignment with the company’s target operating model
- Drives efficiency, process excellence, and analytical capability to support business decisions
- Participates actively in the development and execution of strategic business plans aimed at growing the business while ensuring the financial health of the operation
- Provides insightful focus on capital allocation and critical business levers to drive profitable growth
Treasury, Hedging and Balance Sheet
- Plays a leading role to coordinate the global hedging, international financing and cash management for the division
- Collaborates with Corporate Treasury to develop and implement cash management, foreign exchange, financing and trade and structured finance arbitrage programs.
- Supports enterprise risk management, commodity risk management, capital allocation, tax optimization and other strategic finance activities
Efficiency and Process Improvement
- Drives and promotes a culture of continuous improvement and lean across all regions
- Leads the standardization of processes, controls & policies across the global markets
- Collaborates to strengthen shared services capabilities and business efficiency
- Continuously examines and implements measures to increase the value created by finance
- Supports the transformation of the international businesses
- Drives and supports technology initiatives that drive value for CHS, GGP international and the organization
Analytics
- Works with the Corporate office and the international finance teams to supports the implementation of an EPM framework with KPIs & standard dashboards to drive business performance
- Drives and promotes the business intelligence (BI) strategy (technology, people & process) for Finance and international
- Uses predictive analytics to identify insights & actions that create business value
- Ensures all M&A initiatives including the development of a strategy, target identification and integration of acquired businesses and realization of synergies are connected to Corporate
- Partners with colleagues on valuation, due diligence, financial analysis, deal structuring, and other activities associated with M&A for the division
- Provides input and direction in support of major decisions in areas such as asset acquisitions and new business ventures
- Spearheads the continued use of systems and automation to standardize and streamline reporting across the businesses supported
Minimum Qualifications (required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
- 15+ years of corporate finance, accounting and/or financial planning (budgeting and forecasting) with increasing levels of responsibility.
Additional Qualifications
- Master of Business Administration and/or CPA
- 15+ years of supervisory experience a plus.
- Experience in a relevant sector such as food, energy, agriculture, consumer products, or industrial manufacturing is preferred
- Skilled at collaborating across cultures and businesses in a complex matrix environment
- Strategic and transactional experience negotiating mergers and acquisitions and divestitures, as well as joint ventures and strategic alliances, is desirable
