Tiger Tracks Advisor – 2-3 Positions Delano High School
Delano High School is looking for two to three dedicated professionals to design and lead the new transitions and mentorship program called TIGER TRACKS. The advisors will collaborate with the counselors/administrators of Delano Intermediate and Delano High School to facilitate a transition program that includes both an “induction to high school” component (one day in late May and one day in late August) as well as an ongoing, year-round mentor/mentee program as it develops in 25-26 and 26-27 as described below:
Goals:
- New and incoming seventh graders will be better prepared to adjust to the challenges and rigors of high school. This includes knowing where to find and utilize helpful resources to ease the transition as well as having a peer mentor who will guide them and be a positive role model.
- Program success will be measured in various student benchmark areas including improved student attendance, behavior and academics.
- Students will experience an increased sense of belonging, self-advocacy and empowerment in a safe and welcoming environment/school community.

POSITION DETAILS:
Location: Delano High School
Hours: TBD: Coordinate large group meetings and oversee recurring mentor/mentee meetings
Anticipated Start Date: July 1, 2025
Duration: 2025-26 school year
Wage: Stipend per the master contract Schedule C (currently set at $921)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Coordinate with advisors, counselors, and administrators to design both the Induction and Mentorship facets of the TIGER TRACKS Program including:
- the induction activities (for both the May and August days) for the incoming 7th grade
- provide supervision and peer training for activities related to the mentor/mentee program (11th/12th graders to 7th graders)-including periodic large and small group meetings
- collaborate with the intermediate and high school counselors and administrations to address concerns, needs and interventions
- Use flexible thinking and has the adaptability to address student needs
- Maintain positive and constructive communication with students, staff, parents, and community.
- Work collaboratively with parents and other staff members to reinforce goals of the transition TIGER TRACKS program
- Good oral, written and interpersonal communication.
- Assist in the development and implementation of large group activities (every six weeks) and bi-weekly mentor/mentee check-in meetings–When the program is fully developed in the future
- Ability to support and respond to the individual needs of mentors and mentees
- Report student (mentor/mentee) mentorship transition concerns to building administrations
- Assist with the implementation and evaluation of the TIGER TRACKS transition program goals
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Ability to collaborate with and utilize school staff/counselor resources.
- A basic knowledge of multi-tiered student support strategies and interventions.
- An understanding of the developmental social-emotional and academic needs of students transitioning from sixth grade to seventh grade.
- An understanding of how to train and further develop the leadership skills of student mentors (11th/12th graders).
