Summer School Coordinator
Under the general supervision of Bayfield school administration to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved summer curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.
Essential Functions
Work with administration to develop and implement summer school curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
Recruit, interview, and hire qualified summer school teachers and staff.
Conduct staff training sessions to ensure understanding of curriculum, expectations, and program policies.
Communicates with the bus company and organizes transportation needs and schedules to ensure all student transport needs are met.
Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping,and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
Encourages parental involvement in students’ education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
Ensures student behavior aligns with the school’s standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
Supervises students in activities that take place out of the classroom during the summer school day, including activities involving school transportation.
Develop and maintain partnership with local summer feeding program.
Other duties as assigned by the principal(s) or superintendent.
Qualifications Profile
Current employee of the School District of Bayfield
Bachelor’s degree in education, preferred or related discipline
Current Wisconsin Teaching License, preferred but will also accept Wisconsin State Substitute License
Experience
Successful prior coordinator experience for summer school is a plus.
