Key Skills Required:
- Data Modelling: Extensive experience in data modelling, including conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
- DRB (Data Resource Book): Strong experience with DRB methodologies and tools.
- Database Design: Proficiency in database design and development, including normalization, indexing, and partitioning.
- SQL: Advanced SQL skills for querying and managing databases.
- ETL Processes: Knowledge of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and data integration techniques.
- Data Warehousing: Experience with data warehousing concepts and best practices.
- Tools: Proficiency in data modelling tools such as Erwin, IBM InfoSphere Data Architect, or similar.
- Big Data Technologies: Familiarity with Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, and NoSQL databases is a plus.
- Good understanding of Cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure)
- Good understanding of data governance, data management, data engineering, data visualization concepts and tools used in the industry.
- Collaboration: Excellent communication and teamwork skills for collaborating with business analysts, data architects, and developers.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop robust data models to support business requirements, ensuring consistency, quality, and accuracy.
- Utilize DRB methodologies to create and maintain comprehensive data resource books.
- Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather and interpret requirements, translating them into effective data models.
- Develop and optimize database schemas, ensuring efficient data storage and retrieval.
- Support ETL processes and data integration initiatives, ensuring data consistency and integrity across systems.
- Implement data warehousing solutions, supporting reporting and analytics needs.
- Ensure compliance with data governance policies and standards.
- Conduct data profiling and analysis to identify and resolve data quality issues.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior data modelers and data engineers.
- Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in data modelling and database technologies.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 15+ years of experience in data modelling, database design, and data management.
- Strong experience with DRB methodologies and tools.
- Proficiency in SQL and data modelling tools such as Erwin or IBM InfoSphere Data Architect.
- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Familiarity with Big Data technologies is a plus.
