Software Development Engineer in Test Intern – Undergraduate
San Mateo, CA – Hybrid
About the Team:
As a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) intern, you’ll gain hands-on experience with PlayStation technologies, working on developer tools, automated tests, test frameworks, and infrastructure that validate PlayStation® SDK components, especially in Audio and Graphics. You’ll collaborate with developers and senior QE engineers to understand the software in development and take ownership of designing and implementing test cases and frameworks, helping to expand testing coverage and improve efficiency.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Learn and apply testing methodologies and tools for PlayStation® SDK development.
- Design and implement test software using C++ and Python to ensure the quality of PlayStation® SDK.
- Gather, analyze, and report performance data and operational statistics to enhance the efficiency of our tools and processes.
- Research and develop innovative solutions to technical challenges in Quality Engineering, particularly in Audio and Graphics technologies for PlayStation.
What We’re Looking For:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field.
- Expected to graduate by Spring 2026.
- Proficient in C++ and Python programming languages.
- Experience with software development on both Windows and Linux systems.
- Self-motivated, with strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate with team members at all levels.
Eligibility:
- Able to work full-time during one of the following periods: May 19th – August 8th or June 17th – September 5th.
- Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.
- Must be available for the entire 12-week internship period.
- Open to students who are U.S. citizens or international students with an F-1 visa.
Our intern positions offer a fixed hourly pay rate. Please note that the pay rate is exclusive to the internship period and may not reflect what pay may look like following the completion of an internship.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.
Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
