Software Development Engineer in Test Intern – Undergraduate
San Mateo, CA
What You’ll Be Doing:
As a Software Engineer Intern on the PlayStation® SDK toolchain development team, your responsibilities will include:
- Learning and understanding testing methodologies and tools for PlayStation® SDK toolchain development
- Designing and implementing software to test the PlayStation® C++ compiler toolchain
- Collecting, visualizing, and reporting on performance data and operational statistics to enhance the efficiency of our tools and processes
- Researching and proposing innovative solutions to technical challenges in Quality Assurance and applicable Audio & Video technologies for PlayStation
What We’re Looking For:
- Projected to graduate by Spring 2026
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field
- Proficiency in C++ and Python programming
- Experience writing software for both Windows and Linux systems
- Highly motivated, with excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively at all levels
Bonus Qualifications:
- Experience or interest in compilers and language design
- Data analysis and relational database experience
- Knowledge of collaborative software engineering best practices, including Source Control Management systems and Continuous Integration/Deployment frameworks
AGILE/Scrum training
Eligibility:
- Able to work during one of the following periods: May 19th – August 8th or June 16th – September 5th.
- Must be available for the entire 12-week internship period.
- Open to students who are U.S. citizens or international students with an F-1 visa.
- Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.
Our intern positions offer a fixed hourly pay rate. Please note that the pay rate is exclusive to the internship period and may not reflect what pay may look like following the completion of an internship.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.
Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

$50 – $50 USD
