Position Summary:
As a Site Reliability Engineer Intern with the American Chemical Society, you will be at the forefront of maintaining the stability, availability, and performance of our critical systems. You will work closely with our DevOps & SRE teams to design, build, and operate the infrastructure that powers our innovative products and services. This is your chance to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, real-world environment, working with the latest technologies and tools in the industry.
Key Responsibilities:
• Monitor and Maintain Systems: Assist in monitoring system health and performance, ensuring maximum uptime and reliability.
• Automation and Tooling: Develop and implement automation tools to streamline operations and reduce manual intervention.
• Incident Management: Participate in incident response, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis to resolve system issues swiftly.
• Performance Optimization: Analyze system performance metrics and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and scalability.
• Collaboration: Work closely with development, operations, and QA teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of new features.
Education Requirements:
The Ideal candidate will be a rising college junior, senior or recent graduate pursing a major Computer Science and Engineering

Pay Transparency: This role is based in our Washington, D.C. office. The following are the intended hourly rates for this part time/nonexempt role: Rising Junior-$23.00; Rising Senior-$24.00; Current Grad/PhD Student- $27.00.
Any actual offer of employment, reflecting the total compensation package and benefits, will be made in the sole discretion of ACS. ACS reserves the right to amend or modify its employment benefits and compensation structure at any time.
*This position will be primarily based in the Washington D.C. (or applicable) office. ACS employees work a hybrid work schedule, consisting of working onsite, two days per week. Schedule flexibility may be required for this role to support in-office activities. While always welcome to work in the office, employees may work the other three days of the week from a location of their choice.
