SAT Prep Course Instructor Substitutes (ELA or Math)

DESCRIPTION:
Kearny High School is seeking SAT Prep Course Instructor Substitutes to facilitate courses in the Reading/Writing/Language and Math sections of the SAT exam. Substitute Instructors will be hired for either ELA or Math.  The structure of the program will consist of a 3-hour block of time with two groups of students attending ELA for 1.5 hours and Math for 1.5 hours. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Deliver effective SAT prep lessons for Math and Reading/Writing/Language in a three-hour block on select Wednesday afternoons and Saturday mornings (see cycle schedule).
• Communicate closely with class instructor to ensure planned lessons and tasks are executed efficiently and effectively

REQUIREMENTS:

• Applicants must be certified teachers.
• Duties must be performed outside of regular school duties/hours.
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, English, or a related field.
• Previous experience teaching SAT prep courses or relevant tutoring experience is preferred but not required.
• Strong knowledge of the SAT Math and Reading/Writing/Language sections and test-taking strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Enthusiasm for helping students reach their academic goals.
• Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.
• organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Reliable and punctual
• Applicants must have a flexible schedule on program days that would allow them to substitute on short notice.

Cycle Schedule:

REMUNERATION:
Remuneration will be in accordance with the current KEA contract. This is funded through Title IV.
