Qualified Professional, KIPP Day Treatment

Turning Point Family Services is looking for a Qualified Professional for our KIPP Day Treatment located in Charlotte, operating within KIPP Change Academy.  This new day treatment has been in operation for 1 year.    We are looking for applicants who enjoy working with children with behaviors that are intense where they cannot be in a normal classroom.  We are also looking for candidates that can work within a team and enjoy being challenges. This day treatment serves elementary age kids.  This position is a salary position that will follow the school schedule, Mon-Fri (7:30am-3:30pm).  This position will also require being certified in CPI.  Turning Point offers full benefits and generous paid time off.  This position is full-time salary.  Please see the job description below.  If interested, please apply.   

Summary:

Provide therapeutic behavior management and skill building services to clients in the Day Treatment program.  The focus will be on achieving developmentally appropriate goals and to reintegrate the individual back into school. Plan and implement therapeutic elements of the Day Treatment program including interventions and activities to support symptom stability, increase client ability to cope, teach client how to relate to others, provide support, sustain recovery and enhance the client’s capacity to function in an inclusive setting or be maintained in community-based services.  Work with school personnel, program staff and other professionals in facilitating implementation of client treatment plans.  Maintain the confidentiality of client and program information.  Assist the Program Manager as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree

Experience: Minimum 2 years working in mental health with youth

Valid Driver’s license

Responsibilities:

Be present in the school with clients during school hours.  Provide crisis intervention and treatment to clients in school setting as needed to foster positive behavior in the classroom.  Provide crisis intervention and treatment to clients in school setting as needed to foster positive behavior in the classroom.  Crisis response maybe after done outside the classroom or after school hours.  Educate family members regarding daily progress of clients, mental health issues, existing community services, and act as an advocate in connecting family members to these services.  Sets parameters and implements positive behavior supports.

 

Actively participate in the development of Person-Centered Plans in conjunction with school personnel, social services professionals, assigned client(s) and their families.  Complete and maintain up-to-date client records according to TPFS standards and prepare the necessary reports and file the client documents in a timely and accurate manner.

Complete required documentation in a timely fashion. 

You are required to consistently follow the conduct policies and daily operating procedures of your assigned school. Manages behaviors and maintains discipline in accordance with program procedures.

Provide NCI compliant restraint as a last resort if client is a danger to others or self and least restrictive interventions have been exhausted.
