Position Summary | UNM Online is looking for a candidate with an interest in the power of education to change people’s lives and a desire to contribute to a rapidly growing department that is facilitating access to education across the state and around the world. There is an opportunity to progress into a regular staff position after 12 to 24 months. The Compliance Operations Intern reports to the Program Planning Officer overseeing online curriculum. The PPO is also responsible for tracking the state and federal regulations defining distance education and ensuring the university complies with them. The intern assists the unit’s compliance professionals with research and data management support. Under direct supervision, the position will communicate with UNM colleges, schools and branches, external organizations such as the New Mexico Higher Education Department (NMHED), the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA), and state licensure boards; participate in regular statewide meetings that connect distance education compliance professionals across New Mexico; and otherwise foster industry relationships to share insight and resources. UNM Online is looking for someone who is organized and detailed-oriented, has excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, has an interest in the regulatory landscape of online learning, and the ability to compile engaging resources for widely diverse audiences. Preferred candidates will have knowledge of higher education and proven experience researching law and policy. The position may be eligible for some remote work but requires in-person meetings on campus, across Albuquerque, and around the state. Assignments for this position will include:
