Job Description

We are looking for a strategic and results-driven Principal Architect, IT Bill to Revenue with extensive expertise in telecommunications billing systems, revenue recognition and financial operations to join our growing team! You will work to streamline accounts receivable, revenue journaling, and revenue recognition while ensuring compliance with complex federal, state, and industry regulations. You will manage traceability and fidelity for large-scale billing migrations, ensuring minimal variance in bill-to-bill comparison and reconciliation of invoicing to revenue reporting. He/she will drive Billing/CRM/Product Catalog integration with a strong focus on innovation and process efficiency. In this role, you will ensure stakeholder alignment and architectural consensus across finance, accounting, IT and broader cross-functional teams. You will provide guidance for data architecture and data modeling while delivering actionable insights, ensuring end to end traceability, and enhancing accuracy, scalability and operational efficiency. You will also give guidance for data and system architecture to enable revenue reporting spanning customer segmentation, product hierarchy, and regulatory reporting for federal, state entities.

This role emphasizes a balance of technical leadership, strategic alignment, and collaborative influence to drive success in a highly dynamic and regulated telecommunications environment. It also integrates modern methodologies like agile architecture support and platform normalization to ensure a forward-looking approach.

As Principal Architect, IT Bill to Revenue, your duties & responsibilities will include:

  • Billing, Payment, and Mediation Platform Leadership:
    • Provide strategic direction for Telco Billing, Payment, and Mediation Platforms, aligning technology solutions with business objectives.
    • Strategize on critical business needs, identify deficiencies and potential opportunities, develop innovative, cost-effective solutions for increased revenue and improved customer experience.
  • Billing Systems Design and Integration
    • Architect end-to-end solutions for billing systems, ensuring seamless integration with upstream systems such as product catalog, ordering platforms and downstream systems such as tax applications, general ledger and revenue receivables
    • Optimize catalog structures across ordering and billing platforms to streamline workflows and enhance data accuracy
    • Establish scalable and flexible frameworks for managing diverse customer segments, product lines, and pricing structures
  • Complex Billing Migration and Modernization
    • Lead large-scale billing system migrations, ensuring zero revenue leakage and robust bill-to-bill analysis throughout transitions
    • Develop tools and frameworks to manage fidelity and traceability across legacy and modernized systems
    • Leverage cloud-based and next-gen technologies to future-proof billing and revenue architectures
  • Data Architecture and Reconciliation
    • Provide guidance to development teams to align data structures across platforms to enhance data integrity and facilitate accurate revenue recognition
    • Lead reconciliation processes between invoicing and revenue reporting, ensuring traceability and fidelity for all transactions
    • Build robust frameworks to track regulated/non-regulated revenue, affiliate/non-affiliate transactions, and federal/state subsidies
  • Revenue Management and Compliance
    • Oversee the alignment between billing and revenue reporting systems to conform with ASC 606 and GAAP standards, ensuring all revenue recognition processes meet management reporting, external reporting, regulatory reporting and audit requirements
    • Develop and maintain reporting frameworks to support federal/state subsidy audits and compliance needs
    • Optimize accounts receivable processes and implement automated journaling solutions for better transparency and efficiency
  • Agile Support and Delivery
    • Collaborate with agile delivery teams to ensure architectural alignment with iterative design and implementation cycles
    • Support cross-functional teams with detailed technical designs, enhancing speed-to-market while maintaining compliance and quality
  • Stakeholder Management and Consensus Building
    • Serve as the lead architect between technical teams, finance, accounting, and regulatory stakeholders to align business goals with technical execution
    • Drive stakeholder alignment through influence, negotiation, and consensus-building strategies
    • Deliver presentations to executive leadership, providing clear insights into billing system performance, revenue traceability, and compliance metrics
  • Continuous Improvement and Optimization
    • Identify opportunities to enhance the efficiency of billing-to-revenue workflows and streamline customer touchpoints
    • Monitor and optimize data flows between CRM, product catalog, billing systems and General Ledger to minimize operational bottlenecks
    • Foster innovation by implementing emerging technologies such as AI-driven reconciliation tools and predictive analytics for revenue forecasting

Qualifications

WHAT IT TAKES TO CATCH OUR EYE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred
  • Extensive experience (10+ years) in delivering OSS, BSS solutions for Telecommunications industry
  • Extensive experience in Billing, Payment, and Revenue Recognition for North American Telco
  • Extensive experience in managing large-scale system migrations and technology transformations Had played critical role in at least 2-3 large scale billing and/or revenue migrations
  • Strong understanding of North American Telco products, regulatory framework, revenue recognition rules and reporting framework.
  • Strong negotiation, influencing, and consensus-building skills
  • Agile thinking with a proactive and results-oriented mindset. Prior working experience with Atlassian tools, including JIRA, Confluence
  • Led end to end architecture, functional requirement, application development, and systems integration
