The Division of Cardiology in the Heart Institute at Stony Brook University Hospital, supported by the Cheng Family Foundation, is seeking an ascending or senior Cardiovascular Physician-Scientist at the Associate Professor or Professor level to help build and lead our advanced cardiac imaging CT and MRI research program. The final rank, tenure status, and salary will be commensurate with experience.
The successful candidate will be supported to grow and sustain an externally-funded research program consistent with the visions of the Heart Institute and Department of Medicine. In addition to possessing excellent chest and cardiac CT and MRI interpretive skills, the physician-scientist will contribute to the teaching missions of the Division of Cardiology. Both scientist-physician and scientist candidates (MD, MD/PhD, DO, DO/PhD and PhD) will be considered.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and lead a cutting-edge cardiac imaging CT and MRI research program.
- Sustain an externally-funded research program.
- Demonstrate advanced interpretive skills in cardiac CT and MRI.
- Contribute to the teaching and clinical missions of the Division of Cardiology.
- Collaborate effectively with other cardiology programs, including structural heart disease, electrophysiology, and heart failure/VAD programs.

PHYSICIAN SCIENTIST:
Required Qualifications:
MD, DO, MD/PhD (or foreign equivalent). Board Certified in Internal Medicine. Board Certified/Eligible in Cardiology. Experience in clinical care and clinical, translational or basic research in the field of cardiology. Will be responsible for research, patient care and teaching.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated publication and active funding track record in clinical, translational, and/or basic research is preferred. The ideal candidate will have exhibited a strong commitment to advancing scientific knowledge of the field of cardiology, as well as demonstrate a strong commitment to clinical, educational, and academic excellence.
SCIENTIST:
Required Qualifications:
PhD, MD, MD/PhD (or foreign equivalent). Experience in clinical, translational or basic research in the field of cardiology.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated publication and active funding track record in clinical, translational, and/or basic research is preferred.
