We are seeking a full-time Payroll & Benefits Administrator to support multiple Affinity Group regions. This position will be based out of our headquarters in Charlotte, NC and will report to the Benefits & Payroll Manager. If you enjoy technology, can easily navigate multiple platforms and policies, and are both a great communicator and analyst, this is the job for you.
Who we’re looking for:
Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of multi-state payroll processing experience. Experience processing payroll in UKG is strongly preferred. The Payroll & Benefits Administrator will manage all payroll functions for one region of Affinity Group, comprised of 100 employees. This position will also backup and support 3 other regions as needed.
The right candidate is looking for a stable and long-term commitment and is comfortable and at ease working either in groups or solo. After initial onboarding and training, this position will have flexibility to work remotely.

Job Duties:
- Processes timely and accurate payroll for both salaried and hourly employees (separate cycles) in UKG.
- Provides timely assistance to internal team members’ inquiries and requests for assistance.
- Troubleshoots payroll issues with a sense of urgency. Must have ability to reverse engineer root cause and create long-term solutions.
- Provides all post-payroll required reports to Accounting team.
- Audits deductions (benefits, 401(k), etc.) to ensure accuracy.
- Audits local/state/federal taxes to ensure compliance with tax registration and reporting requirements.
- Completes monthly reconciliation of benefit billing to ensure accuracy. Assists with Open Enrollment as needed.
- Track all activities related to garnishments and wage attachments for multiple states.
- Completes quarterly audit of 401(k), HSA, and FSA contributions to ensure compliance with annual limits.
- Assists with annual audits such as 401(k) testing and Worker’s Compensation insurance.
- Assists Accounting team with state and local payroll tax audits.
- Provides general support to Accounting team such as scanning checks.
This role might be for you if you have:
- Bachelor’s degree with major in Accounting/Finance or a related discipline
- Influence: Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills with all levels of the organization. Must have a personable approach to influence internal clients (employees) and chase down RFI’s (request for information) on a routine basis
- Discipline: Possesses and applies fundamental payroll and accounting concepts, practices and procedures. Strong organizational skills with the ability to be self-motivated, to multi-task, prioritize and achieve time-sensitive deadlines
- Teamwork: Ability to partner with diverse teams and learn from others
- Minimum 2 years of multi-state payroll processing experience, ideally in a small to mid-size organization.
- Experience processing payroll in UKG is strongly preferred
- Experience with benefits plan design, cost analysis, vendor management and general ledger account mapping preferred
- In-depth understanding of relevant benefits laws and regulations preferred (ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with precise attention to detail.
- Strong understanding of current state tax and overtime laws for multiple states.
- Ability to handle confidential information and be sensitive to personal situations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft O365 products (Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint).
What to Expect:
- Salary Range: $55,000 – $70,000 annually
- Typical work week: Mon – Fri (8 A.M. to 5 P.M.)
- Hybrid Schedule
- No travel
