OVPR Professional Intern

Summary

This professional internship is designed to provide on-the-job training and experience to recent college graduates. Engages in various work assignments, projects, and activities of varying complexity, structured to enable the intern to gain the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities needed to perform at a professional level within an executive office of the University. The professional intern will receive training and mentorship from OVPR staff and faculty in planning and carrying out activities and assignments. This is a fixed-term position for up to 24 months.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Assist research office staff by processing Chrome River transactions, procurement of goods/supplies, booking travel for research office staff & affiliates, and other transactions as assigned. Will serve as one of the primary P-Card holders of the office.
  2. Aid the OVPR Marketing & Communication Manager with different marketing/communication related tasks as needed.
  3. Assist with the maintenance of office inventory including inventory tracking.
  4. Provide front desk administrative support and customer service to OVPR Staff & guests.
  5. Assist research staff with miscellaneous tasks as assigned.
  6. Perform time entry and other clerical work.
  7. Conduct internet-based research as assigned.
  8. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment
  • Must present transcripts prior to a formal offer being extended.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University’s influenza vaccination requirement.
  • This is a fixed-term position, typically up to 24 months.
Minimum Qualifications

Must have obtained a Bachelor’s or higher level degree no more than 24 months prior to the date of hire OR if the Bachelor’s (or higher level) degree was obtained more than 24 months prior to the date of hire, the individual must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s (or higher level) degree program; no previous work experience required.

  •                     Administrative Ability to greet guests, OVPR Staff, etc.; as well as answering the phone whenever it rings.
  •                Documenting Information Entering, transcribing, recording, storing, or maintaining information in written or                  electronic form.
  •         Computer knowledge (including hardware and software) to set up functions, enter data, or process information.
  •         Processing Information Compiling, coding, categorizing, calculating, tabulating, auditing, or verifying information            or data
  •         Communication Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  •         Making Decisions and Solving Problems Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems. Ability to understand and follow complex, detailed technical instructions.
  •         Peer Interaction Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
