Job Summary

This role is with the Gilman International Scholarship Program (Gilman Program). IIE administers the Gilman Program on behalf of the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA). The Gilman Program aims to support underrepresented students in their educational pursuits abroad by offering scholarships to talented undergraduates with significant financial need, enabling them to study or intern internationally. Gilman Scholars represent all fifty states and embody the diverse tapestry of the United States. These scholars act as citizen ambassadors while abroad and return to the U.S. equipped to effect positive change within their communities and industries. Furthermore, Gilman Alumni benefit from lifelong access to career advancement opportunities and networking initiatives.

The Outreach and Communications Coordinator works as part of an essential team to recruit applicants for the prestigious Gilman International Scholarship Program. In addition to student recruitment, the Outreach and Communications Coordinator supports the implementation of the program’s annual outreach and conference plans, processes routine payments, and supports the annual conference plan implementation by organizing internal plans, tracking progress, processing registrations, booking travel, and processing reimbursements, and other essential tasks to ensure institutions of higher education and other key stakeholders are aware of the program’s role and importance in public diplomacy, international exchange, and with a multitude of stakeholders.

Essential Functions:    

• Collaborates with team in implementing conference, campus visit, and digital strategy for the Gilman Program.
• Contributes to overall digital marketing and social media direction, including innovation and continuous improvement of creative strategy.
• Ensures accuracy in tracking conference proposal deadlines, accepted proposals, and digital booth creation. 
• Assists in leading the production and distribution of Congressional and Governor letters.
• Tracks, monitors, and supports production and/or distribution of all outreach materials and information, as needed.
• Processes routine payments for the Gilman Program vendors, recipients, and ambassadors. 
• Leads hosting, content creation, and implementation of digital events such as webinars and Instagram live events. 
• Ensures correct brand usage in creation of all materials.
• Contributes to the development of accurate, sponsor-ready reports. 

Requirements

Education and Work Experience

• Requires an associate’s degree and at least two (2) years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to organize and handle a large volume of work under severe time constraints and pressures.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, public speaking and presentation skills.
• Highly proficient in spoken and written English with superior writing and editing skills.
• Requires a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to use diplomacy in difficult situations.
• Intermediate experience with excel and spreadsheets required.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Experience with financial software preferred.

 

Salary and Benefits:

Salary Range: $50,756.91. A candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, job-related knowledge, skills, abilities, internal organizational equity, and geographic region.
