    This posting is for a Multiple Disabilities Support Facilitator/Special Education Internal Coach.  The successful applicant will have experience working with students with significant disabilities including Autism and Language Impairements.  Experience with assistive technology is strongly desired, as is an Autism Endorsement Certification.  Candidates should demonstrate a background in and understanding of Applied Behavior Analysis.  The role of this position is to build capacity across the district to ensure the successful implementation of Applied Behavior Analysis/Verbal Behavior in the various special education classrooms.  

    Training and consultation will be provided through the Autism Initiative to the employee so that he/she can provide on-site support and consultation to the teachers and staff in classrooms participating in the Autism Initiative.  There are requirements to attend trainings throughout the school year with PaTTAN/PDE.  This position will provide support to the classroom teachers and staff in effective instructional practices in applied behavior analysis and behavior modification.  In addition to annual salary, this position carries a stipend of $500/month.
     

    Position Summary:

     

    The Multiple Disabilities Support- Behavioral Facilitator participates as a member of the instructional staff in directing the learning experiences of students.  The Multiple Disabilities Support- Behavioral Facilitator works toward attaining the general and specific objectives developed in each student’s Individual Educational Program. Teachers report to the building Principal or Assistant Principal, the Assistant Director of Special Education and the Director of Special Education for tasks assigned to teachers. Direction for the instructional program is determined by a multidisciplinary team, which includes other staff members who teach the students. The Multiple Disabilities Support- Behavioral Facilitator works coordinately with specialists as well as other teachers. The individual in this position functions as the Autism Initiative Internal Coach for the District and performs all tasks of data collection, program setup and implementation, ensuring fidelity of programming, acting as the primary point-of-contact for outside agencies, and facilitating recommendations from consultant summary notes.

     

    Qualifications:

     

    1. Bachelor’s degree required.
    2. Active and valid appropriate certification issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania required.

     

    Functions/Duties/Responsibilities:

     

    1. Planning for Teaching:

     

    The Multiple Disabilities Support- Behavioral Facilitator has the responsibility to:

     

    1. Meet with the multidisciplinary team, parents, and students to develop the Individual Educational Program (IEP). 
    2. Meet with parents to approve the IEP and provide an evaluation on the student’s progress during previous IEPs.
    3. Select and use a variety of materials and provide appropriate learning experiences considering both the subject matter and the development of the child.  
    4. Collect information about assigned students that will help in planning appropriate learning experiences.
    5. Work cooperatively with any regular education teacher who is assigned exceptional/special education students.
    6. Motivating and Evaluating Students:

     

    The The Multiple Disabilities Support- Behavioral Facilitator has the responsibility to:

     

    1. Present learning experiences in a manner which motivates learning
    2. Establish standards for individual students in terms of each student’s ability and need.
    3. Determine the nature and extent of direction needed to attain goals.
    4. Evaluate performance according to the objectives and tasks established in the IEP.
    5. Developing and Managing Classroom Climate:

     

    The Multiple Disabilities Support- Behavioral Facilitator has the responsibility to:

     

    1. Create an atmosphere conducive to the individual, social and emotional development of the students.
    2. Control the behavior and activities of the students in order that these goals can be achieved.
    3. Interacting with Students:

     

    The Multiple Disabilities Support- Behavioral Facilitator has the responsibility to help students achieve learning objectives by interacting with the student in generalizations and concept formation.

     

    1. Clerical:

     

    The Multiple Disabilities Support- Behavioral Facilitator has the responsibility to:

     

    1. Perform those clerical duties assigned by the building principal which are necessary to operate an instructional program in the school.
    2. Report the attendance of students as directed by the administration.
    3. Miscellaneous:

     

    The Multiple Disabilities Support- Behavioral Facilitator has the responsibility to:

     

    1. Serve in various monitoring capacities, attend evening programs, faculty meetings, in-service programs, and serve on district and building committees as established by the WCEA agreement and district policy.
    2. Participate in appropriate professional organizations and continue professional growth by attending conferences, workshops, reading, or attending graduate school.
