Speaks Law Firm is seeking a Medical Records Coordinator to join our legal team. The primary duties include reviewing case-related documents and generating comprehensive and persuasive demand packages to ensure clients receive the compensation they deserve.  The ideal candidate will have exceptional writing skills with a passion for advocating on behalf of personal injury clients. Candidates will be asked to provide a writing sample and complete a writing prompt as part of the interview process.  This position can be onsite in either Wilmington or Charlotte, NC. 

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Review and verify the accuracy of medical records, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete
  • Conduct thorough fact-checking and research to strengthen case arguments and ensure accuracy
  • Collaborate with attorneys and case managers to develop a cohesive strategy for each demand
  • Analyze and summarize medical treatments, injuries, and prognosis to convey the impact of the accident on the client’s life
  • Draft compelling and well-organized demand letters that clearly tell the client’s story while highlighting liability and damages
  • Edit and proofread demand packages for accuracy, clarity, and adherence to quality standards
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations, patient confidentiality and data security
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred, high school diploma or equivalent required
  • Strong writing and editing skills with a demonstrated ability to craft persuasive narratives
  • Experience in personal injury law, medical records or a legal setting preferred
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and ability to interpret medical records is a plus
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle multiple deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Proficiency in word processing software and legal documentation tools
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with team members and clients
  • Self-motivated and high degree of work ethic
  • Demonstrate proficiency and a sense of urgency in reviewing medical records and drafting summaries and persuasive arguments advocating for our clients

Compensation:
The is a full-time hourly position starting at $18.
