Speaks Law Firm is seeking a Medical Records Coordinator to join our legal team. The primary duties include reviewing case-related documents and generating comprehensive and persuasive demand packages to ensure clients receive the compensation they deserve. The ideal candidate will have exceptional writing skills with a passion for advocating on behalf of personal injury clients. Candidates will be asked to provide a writing sample and complete a writing prompt as part of the interview process. This position can be onsite in either Wilmington or Charlotte, NC.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Review and verify the accuracy of medical records, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete
- Conduct thorough fact-checking and research to strengthen case arguments and ensure accuracy
- Collaborate with attorneys and case managers to develop a cohesive strategy for each demand
- Analyze and summarize medical treatments, injuries, and prognosis to convey the impact of the accident on the client’s life
- Draft compelling and well-organized demand letters that clearly tell the client’s story while highlighting liability and damages
- Edit and proofread demand packages for accuracy, clarity, and adherence to quality standards
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations, patient confidentiality and data security
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred, high school diploma or equivalent required
- Strong writing and editing skills with a demonstrated ability to craft persuasive narratives
- Experience in personal injury law, medical records or a legal setting preferred
- Familiarity with medical terminology and ability to interpret medical records is a plus
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to handle multiple deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively
- Proficiency in word processing software and legal documentation tools
- Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with team members and clients
- Self-motivated and high degree of work ethic
- Demonstrate proficiency and a sense of urgency in reviewing medical records and drafting summaries and persuasive arguments advocating for our clients
Compensation:
The is a full-time hourly position starting at $18.
