ABOUT THE ROLE:  During a 12-week in-person internship (Summer 2025), the Marketing & Outreach Intern provides part-time support (20-25 hours per week) to Helping Hands’ marketing initiatives by enhancing the brand and spreading our mission throughout the community.  This internship position is geared toward current students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or Journalism who are in or approaching their junior or senior year.

 

SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION:

  • On-site position, approximately 20-25 hours per week.  
    • Must be available for occasional evening and weekend availability depending on departmental needs.
  • Salary range $20.00/hour (non-exempt).

A TYPICAL DAY FOR YOU AT HH:

  • Assist with content generation for the agency.
  • Design and present content for social media platforms and agency projects. 
  • Research and implement relevant marketing trends and techniques including video formats.
  • Contribute fresh ideas that can enhance the Helping Hand brand.
  • Assist with outreach events in the community and volunteer events at Helping Hand.
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

LAND THIS OPPORTUNITY BY HAVING:

Education/Training:

  • Must be a current student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or Journalism approaching their junior or senior year.

Availability:

  • Must be available for a 12-week internship during the summer.
  • This will be an in-person internship (20-25 hours per week).
  • Must have occasional evening and weekend availability.
  • Must be located in the Chicagoland area. 

Skill Sets:

  • Must have reliable transportation to and from Helping Hand and other various events.
  • Must have a valid drivers license with on-going personal vehicle motor insurance.
  • The person in this position must be able to maintain appropriate confidentiality and integrity to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.
  • Flexibility to work in various settings.
  • A commitment to a diverse, inclusive, and equitable work environment.
  • Ability to promote and adhere to company values.
  • Ability to attend team and agency meetings as required by the position.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The work environment includes both in-office responsibilities and community outreach activities which may include both indoor and outdoor venues.
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about to assist others, access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. 
  • The ability to observe details at a close range (within a few feet of the observer). 
  • Consistently position self to maintain files in file cabinets or assist others. 
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.  Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
