JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Marketing Intern
Reports to: Member Relations Director
Supervises: Not applicable
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Job Summary
The Marketing intern will assist in promoting GCC’s brand, events and services to members. This role provides hands-on experience in digital marketing, content creation, social media management, and member engagement strategies. The intern will participate in the planning and execution of events, campaigns, and communications that align with GCC’s mission and core values.
Essential Duties include, but are not limited to:
Trust & Teamwork
- Collaborate with various departments to help ensure that events and marketing efforts are seamless
- Work alongside the marketing team to maintain operations, demonstrating reliability and support in accomplishing team goals
- Support cross-department collaboration by fostering an environment of trust and cooperation
Effective Communication
- Craft messages for online content and social media accounts that are clear and aligned with the club’s values while assisting with communication with members and the broader community
- Develop marketing materials that will enhance GCC’s visibility and engage key audiences ensuring consistency in message across all platforms
- Monitor and respond to inquiries and feedback by engaging in a timely and professional manner through open communication to build strong relationships
Innovation
- Utilize marketing analytics techniques to gather important data and create new strategies and innovative solutions for member engagement
- Analyze data trends to help innovate marketing efforts
- Assist marketing team with generating fresh, innovative content that resonates with members across all platforms
Balance & Appreciation
- Manage time efficiently and ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner to maintain a balanced and organized workflow
- Assist in planning and execution of member events or community outreach activities
- Maintain a flexible attitude and appreciate the diverse nature of tasks assigned that contribute to the overall success of GCC
Education and/or Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Hospitality or related field, preferred
- Previous experience in marketing or communications, preferred
Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with social media platforms
- Experience with content creation and management
- Basic proficiency in design tools (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Canva)
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results, as needed
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Occasional need to lift up to 25lbs
- Ability to be mobile around the club grounds
Candidate Qualifications
- Eagerness and willingness to grow their knowledge base
- Professional with excellent communication skills
- Enthusiastic and organized
- Proficiency with social media platforms and digital marketing tools
- Ability to work as part of a team and open to feedback
Other Benefits
In addition to field experience, interns will be provided housing, paid an hourly rate and can expect to work 40+ hours each week. Pro shop discounts, uniforms and a meal allowance are also provided. Interns must have their own transportation. Selected interns will be given the opportunity to attend regularly scheduled CMAA meetings while employed.
