The Summer Marketing Internership is ideal for a college student seeking experience in marketing, public relations, graphic arts, journalism, English, or business. The individual will receive real world, hands-on experience from a team of talented professionals, and will report to the Director of Creative Development and Community Engagement.
The intern will be working in the Marketing & Communications Department for Batavia Park District, an IAPD/IPRA Distinguished Accredited Agency, a two-time NRPA Gold Medal Finalist and one of the Chicago Tribune’s 2024 Top Work Places.
The part-time summer marketing intern will help market and promote events and programs to nearly 30,000 residents.
Attention to detail, accuracy, flexibility and dependability are required. An outgoing personality with a “can-do” attitude, creative thinking and ability to take initiative are essential traits. Strong writing skills are preferred. Some photography skills are needed. Website, social media, video and graphic design experience are considered assets. Students with a talent for multi-tasking, meeting deadlines, meeting new people and who are unafraid of learning new tasks are encouraged to submit their resume and cover letter. The intern must have a valid Illinois Driver’s License and be able to provide his/her own transportation.
Essential Functions
- Assist in planning and executing special events
- Write press releases, news articles and website content
- Develop content for social media and email marketing
- Photograph Park District programs and events
- Assist in editing Park District flyers, brochures, and other marketing materials
- Update calendar postings online and through various media outlets
- Assist in supporting the overall function of the Marketing & Public Relations Department
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications: Candidate must be at least 18 years of age or older. Candidate must be a current student of an accredited university pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, graphic design, business or related field, or a recent graduate. Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license and be available for flexible hours during the summer season.
Preferred Qualifications: Journalism, website, social media and graphic design experience are considered a plus.
Work Schedule: Starting May 2025 and ending on August 2025; flexible schedule, including days, evenings and weekends.
Hourly Rate:
$16.00/hour
