Summary/Objective
The Paymentus Financial Operations Team is responsible for the overall planning, design, execution, and measurement of all money movement processes that support the successful execution of the end-to-end Paymentus Client (“Biller”) Relationship Experience.
The Finance Manager will perform standard accounting functions, such as balancing posted electronic payment transactions against deposit reporting from respective merchant processors. This will require collaboration directly with external merchant processors to obtain and synthesize financial data. This may periodically require direct engagement with clients as well as internal cross-functional teams.
The Finance Manager will also work at the overall enterprise level. A primary responsibility will include reconciling company funding accounts, identifying and alerting settlement defects, and accounting for open items. This position will make recommendations on process improvement opportunities based upon analysis results, identified trends, variances and risk avoidance. The successful candidate must quickly become a subject matter expert and become a trusted advisor to the organization.
As needed, the Finance Manager will support enterprise-wide projects, such as annual business planning, enhancing merchant processing practices, improving internal and external financial reporting, as well as, development of client action plans.
Essential Functions/ Responsibilities
- Minimum of (7) years of progressive experience in Accounting and Finance which required analysis and reporting of financial results.
- Experience taking full ownership of enterprise wide projects, creating process improvements and driving efficiencies in the payment reconciliation arm of the business.
- Must demonstrate expert-level knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; Familiarity with Canadian Accounting Principles a plus.
- Proven experience using quantitative and statistical analysis tools.
- Previous experience within the Electronic Payments and Billing industry strongly preferred, but not required.
- Extensive experience in performing advanced financial modeling and forecasting.
- Proven ability to effectively translate financial data into actionable plans.
- Must have advanced financial and situational analytical skills, with the ability to quickly assess complex situations.
- Must have understanding of Lean Six Process Management, Waterfall and Agile project methodology.
- Proven ability to work as key team collaborator or independently, always using sound judgment and advanced decision-making skills.
- Must have effective written and verbal communications skills and ability to deliver complex subject matter in a relatable manner to non-financial audiences.
- Advanced knowledge of SAAS and/or cloud-based solutions preferred, but not required.
- Familiarity with Salesforce™ or similar CRM strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with JIRA™ or similar case management system strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with PCI DSS Compliance, credit/debit card association regulations, and NACHA rules strongly preferred.
- Professional designations such as CPA or CMA strongly preferred, but not required.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite required.
- Travel requirement is up to 10%, however, travel is minimal in role.
Education and Experience
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Background in delivering projects in a timely fashion.
- 7+ years of work experience.
- Strong organization, communications and people skills required.
- CPA Preferred
- Public Accounting Experience Preferred
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers and smartphones.
Physical Demands

This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee may be required to life up to 25 lbs.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday during normal business hours. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
