The Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College (MLFTC) at Arizona State University (ASU) invites applications for a Management Intern position with the Preparing Educators for Arizona’s Indian Communities (PEAIC) program.

Through a grant awarded to the MLFTC, PEAIC prepares Indigenous educators across Arizona by providing them with access to high-quality teacher preparation programs and induction support in their first years of teaching. 

Under general supervision, the Management Intern will provide administrative support to the PEAIC project, assisting with general administration projects, research and analysis, and technical planning. The person in this position needs to be able to collaborate with PEAIC stakeholders, advocate professionally for Indigenous educators in the field of education, including plan, organize, and coordinate activities toward their professional development. 

This grant award is subject to the provisions of section 7(b) of the Indian Self- Determination and Education Assistance Act (Pub. L. 93–638), granting preferences and opportunities for training and employment to American Indians, defined as a member of any federally recognized tribe.

This position is primarily based on the Tempe campus with the opportunity to work remotely; however, you may occasionally be required to travel to off-campus events,  driving your own vehicle, to perform work.

  • This position may be performed remotely from anywhere in the state of Arizona.
  • Duties are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse. 
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
  • Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to 
  • perform work. Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 40 pounds.
  • Regular activities require the ability to quickly change priorities. 
  • Duties may include performance in the field on tribal lands, at K-12 sites, community colleges, and other partner organizations. 
  • Occasional travel to Arizona tribal communities and other locations may be required.

  • Knowledge of Indigenous populations in Arizona and, in particular, their unique educational and cultural contexts.
  • Evidence of having an interest in education and commitment to advocate for educators, both pre-service and in-service.
  • Experience working in preK-12 schools, higher education, and/or other educational settings. 
  • Experience working in a fast-paced work environment and pursuing multiple tasks simultaneously which may be time-sensitive and require reprioritization to meet deadlines. 
  • Experience collecting data, organizing data, and coordinating reporting of data with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to notice, interpret and anticipate concerns and conflicts, and de-escalate as necessary and appropriate.

This is a grant funded position. Continuation is contingent on future grant funding.

Serve in an intern capacity for the project, which may include the following duties and responsibilities: 

  • Strong English communication skills. 
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and team sharing Cloud-based reporting tools. 
  • Perform tasks related to specific functions of the project. 
  • Coordinates and monitors progress of project activities, including planning, organizing, developing, and executing on finite as well as ongoing program project tasks.  
  • Maintains ongoing communication with program team members and stakeholders. 
  • Maintains databases and prepares reports as needed. 
  • Assemble and analyze quantitative and qualitative data and make interpretations for application to areas of assignment. 
  • Assist in coordination of financial management and reporting.
  • Monitor and report on progress toward meeting individual and team goals, making recommendations to supervisors as needed to improve performance.
  • Work independently, solve problems, and contribute to strategic decisions. 
  • Deliver and receive constructive critical feedback with professionalism.
