Overview
Perform various reconciliations functions, such as general ledger accounts and security positions. Investigate and resolve recon differences. Makes contact with other departments as part of investigation, and updates the investment system when necessary. Maintain and reconcile the records for mutual fund investments. Prepare various monthly reports. Assist in the preparation of investment schedules for quarterly and annual statutory filings. Works with some supervision and is responsible to make a minimal range of decisions, escalating to manager when appropriate and updating manager on a regular basis.
Responsibilities
What you will do:
- Gain knowledge of investments, including bonds, stocks, derivatives, private equities, etc.
- Process investment transactions within the investment accounting software system.
- Perform treasury functions and gain knowledge of how treasury interacts with investments.
- Create journal entries in the general ledger.
- Perform analysis on investments, including mutual funds.
- Prepare the statutory schedules for quarterly annual filings.
- Complete daily, monthly and quarterly reconciliations.
- Gain knowledge of statutory regulations and accounting principles.
- Increase communication skills interacting with other departments and outside the organization.
- Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree Accounting, finance or economics. (Required)
- Demonstrate a basic knowledge and understanding of accounting rules.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve problems.
- Cite examples of self-motivation and proactive personal development.
- Demonstrates ability to adapt communication styles and successfully articulate technical information to associates as well as management.
- Displays excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience communicating with and influencing opinions in large and small groups.

- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with integrity and maturity.
- Working knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing applications.
Work Setting/Position Demands:
- Works in an office setting and remains in a stationary position for long periods of time while working at a desk, on a computer or with other standard office equipment, or while in meetings.
- Requires the ability to verbally communicate and exchange accurate information to customers and associates on a regular basis.
- Requires visual acuity to read and interpret a variety of correspondence, procedures, reports and forms via paper and electronic documents, visual inspection involving small defects; small parts, and/or operation of machinery (including inspection); using measurement devices continuously. Visual acuity is required to determine accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned.
- Requires the ability to prepare written correspondence, reports and forms using prescribed formats and conforming to rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style on a regular basis.
- Requires the ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Performs substantial movement of wrists, hands, and fingers for continuous computer work.
- Extended hours required during peak workloads or special projects/events.
