ABOUT THE ROLE
The International Director at First Presbyterian Day School is responsible for overseeing the international student program, ensuring a welcoming and enriching experience for students from diverse cultural backgrounds. This role includes recruitment, admissions, academic and spiritual support, and fostering a Christ-centered environment that integrates international students into the school community.
Program Leadership & Development
- Develop and implement a vision for the international student program aligned with the school’s Christian mission and values.
- Oversee the recruitment, admission, and onboarding process for international students. Continue to investigate and implement best practices for international students’ admissions policies and practices.
- Maintain compliance with SEVIS and all legal requirements for international student enrollment.
- Establish and nurture relationships with international agencies, host families, and WA Global network.
Student Support & Integration
- Facilitate a smooth transition for international students, providing orientation and ongoing cultural, academic, and spiritual support.
- Promote the integration of international students into the school community through extracurricular activities, mentorship programs, and social events.
- Serve as a liaison between international students, their families, host families, and school staff.
- Support students’ spiritual growth by connecting them with local churches, Bible studies, and Christian mentorship opportunities.
Academic & Administrative Support
- Collaborate with faculty and academic departments to support international students’ educational success. Proactively provide training to faculty regarding teaching strategies for international students and cultural awareness.
- Monitor student progress and provide resources for English language learners as needed.
- Organize parent communication, including translation services when necessary. Provide a progress conference per student each semester with parents to stay aligned with expectations, goals, and progress.
- Work with the finance office on tuition payments and financial aid for international students.
Community & Cultural Engagement
- Develop cross-cultural learning opportunities for all students to promote global awareness and appreciation.
- Plan and coordinate a fall mission trip for international students, spring break trip, and cultural events.
- Serve as an advocate for international students, ensuring their needs are met within the school community.
- A Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a related field of study.
- Growing and mature Christian, who is regularly worshipping in a local evangelical church.
- Possesses a commitment to spiritual and relational growth.
- Has a heart and ability to serve and share the love of students from other cultures.
- Enjoys being with students, building relationships, being part of a team that seeks to expand God’s kingdom through relationships with international students.
- Commitment to a lifestyle above reproach in line with FPD’s Statement of Christian Principles and Ministerial Role of Faculty.
