65% – Admission Evaluation and Processing
  1. In accordance with state and university guidelines and university enrollment objectives, determines eligibility of applicants for admission to KU based on analysis of the admission application, transcripts, standardized tests, and supplemental documentation.
  2. Utilizes professional judgement in order to analyze the complete student file (transcripts, grades, test scores), reviews accreditation/recognition status of international institutions, verifies authenticity of academic documents, and calculates GPA’s, converting to 4.0 scale as needed.
  3. Determines appropriate admission decision status according to University of Kansas and Enrollment Management standards, within the established time benchmarks and service delivery protocols.
  4. Prioritizes admissions applications based on deadlines established by Enrollment Management and academic departments.
  5. Reviews and escalates to the Assistant Director of International Admissions special financial circumstance application fee grants in accordance with university guidelines.
  6. Responds, within established time benchmarks and service delivery protocols, to inquiries regarding admission status from prospective and current students. Provides assistance to prospective students and their parents regarding curriculum, standardized tests, grade point average, transfer of credit, enrollment, admission status (including denial, admission by exception and waitlist) and general information about KU and the admissions process.
  7. Works closely with Office of the University Registrar Transfer Credit staff and other academic departments across campus, including professional schools, by interpreting and explaining current KU admission guidelines and policies and verifies applicant information for other offices and academic departments.
  8. Contacts other educational institutions and resources to verify and clarify information provided by applicants. 

20% – Data Review and Entry

  1. Enters high school and college transcripts along with test credit for applicants and current students.
  2. Reviews and enters educational and demographic data into PeopleSoft, requiring a thorough understanding of multiple screens in PeopleSoft and Perceptive Content/ImageNow and their impact across the office and the computer system.
  3. Reviews and enters information in Slate Customer Relationship Management system for prospective students and applicants which is also used to recruit high school and college transfer students.

15% – Reporting, Policies and Procedures Maintenance, and Other Duties

  1. Participates in production, evaluation, and distribution of reports associated with admission status, deferrals, and electronic admission.
  2. Maintains a thorough knowledge of current KU admission and enrollment management policies.
  3. Maintains knowledge of current international credentials resources.
  4. Special projects and other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of International Admissions.

Position Overview
International Admissions is a sub-unit of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions which reports to the Vice Provost for Enrollment Management. Enrollment Management includes the following functional units: Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Financial Aid and Scholarships, Student Lifecycle Technology, the Office of the University Registrar, Enrollment Marketing Communications and Graduate Enrollment Management.

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions is responsible for domestic and international undergraduate admissions for freshman, transfer, readmission and non-degree seeking students. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions coordinates the overall recruitment strategy for KU including travel, on and off campus events, prospect data entry, and application processing.

The International Operations Specialist is an international application processing position in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. This position is responsible for analyzing international undergraduate admission applications and supporting materials, including but not limited to degree-seeking, non-degree seeking, freshman, transfer and readmission applications and determining admissibility. This position will interpret state statutes, regulations, policies, and procedures and make interpretations. This position requires excellent research and data entry skills, attention to detail and the ability to operate in multiple software systems to accomplish unit goals.

Position Requirements
This position begins on-site but moves to a hybrid model after incumbent successfully completes the 6-month probationary period. After successfully completing probation, incumbent will have the option to work in person one day and four days remote.
