A new vacancy exists for an IT Services Coordinator to work within the Office of Technology Services at the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit! The IT Services Coordinator provides computer, information systems, and repair support services. This role is responsible for establishing technical guidance, process improvements, and best practices for the IT Services Team including training and project management to assist team members. The IT Services Coordinator also oversees all Help Desk tickets and assigns tickets to the accordingly, and resolves service requests, isolates and troubleshoots problems, and develops cutting-edge solutions that support MCIU and external constituencies.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in appropriate field (Bachelor’s degree requirement may be waived with significant experience in specialized area of position). Master’s degree preferred.
- Certificate(s) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, Cybersecurity, and/or industry-recognized related areas preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in appropriate field, leadership experience strongly preferred.
- Expertise (includes one or more of the following):
- Hands-on experience analyzing high volumes of logs, network data, and other attack artifacts in support of incident investigations.
- Interfacing frequently with customers and stakeholders.
- Specialized skills in area of concentration proven by work experience, certificates, etc.
- Autonomous nature of work performed.
- Knowledge of:
- Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Exchange Servcer, Microsoft Office 365 and Azure
- Hyper-V and VMware environments.
- Active Directory, firewalls, DNS, DHCP, VPN, LAN, WAN, and VLAN
- Servers and network equipment.
- Ability to work as a member of a team, follow directions, and follow through with completed assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work in an environment with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to manage time, meet deadlines, and read and understand highly technical documents.
- Excellent communication skills, organizational skills, and problem-solving skills; ability to use technology to work effectively.
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record without major traffic violations; travel to school buildings as required.
- Original certificates of clearance from the State Police, Child Abuse Registry, and PDE FBI.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Run the daily activities of the IT Services Team and ticketing system to keep initiatives on track, on time, and on budget.
- Oversee technical support services to MCIU and member Local Education Agencies (LEAs) by resolving tickets at multiple levels.
- Install, configure, maintain, support, monitor, and troubleshoot networking and computer technology including but not limited to:
- Networking equipment (routers, switches, wireless access points).
- Firewalls and VPNs.
- Desktop and portable computers, computing devices, and peripherals.
- Present and future client operating systems (i.e., Windows, Chrome OS, macOS, and open source).
- Application software/suites, troubleshooting tools, antivirus remediation, security best practices.
- Printers (e.g., laser, color, inkjet, wide format) and copiers when requested.
- Manage the field repair and troubleshooting of computer equipment for the IT Services Team. Install and configure, network infrastructure, applications, systems, servers, and storage systems.
- Implement team efficiencies in imaging techniques, rollout strategies, and turnaround times for repairs to support client initiatives.
- Maintain emerging systems, applications, security, and network/server configurations while applying industry-standard best practices.
- Support encryption requirements across respective systems.
- Assist the IT Services Administrator in regular tasks including:
- Server updates and maintenance tasks
- Application administration and maintenance
- Account creation and management
- MDM management
- External LEA support and administration
- Security initiatives
- Lead the day-to-day scheduling of IT Services team
- Act as technical SME for IT Services team members
- Oversee equipment inventory
- Establish and maintain backup and restoration procedures on respective systems and supporting infrastructure.
- Provide professional and effective on-site and remote technical support, set-up, custom training, and guidance to internal and external clients, as well as work with vendors and other partners as required.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge and base understanding of new technologies, best practices, and troubleshooting methodologies.
- Provide support of MCIU’s content filters for various divisions and IU clients while maintaining service equipment and records.
- Continuously expand upon current skill set by attending required training and conferences.
- Provide immediate communications of major issues and potential solutions to the Supervisor of IT Services.
- Provide cross trainings or knowledge sharing as required to ensure system function redundancy exists.
- Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored, or accessed by the systems.
- Maintain system end-user documentation and business rules.
- Maintain current knowledge and a base understanding of internal and external client systems and new technologies.
- Preserve and maintain good relationships with MCIU and LEAs, technical staff, vendors, and statewide counterparts.
- Provide regular status reports on current projects and initiatives to the Supervisor of IT Services.
- Project a positive image of the IU and its programs and services.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the OTS Directors.
Location:
The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit is located at 2 W. Lafayette St. Norristown, PA.
Work Schedule:
Monday – Friday, 7.0 hours/day, 12 months (260-262 days/year)
Salary:
$63,671/year – $74,907/year (T2)
