    Oak Park and River Forest High School, or OPRF, is a comprehensive public high school located in Oak Park, Ill., a suburb eight miles due west of downtown Chicago. We are a one-school district, with the majority of our students coming from two sender districts, River Forest Public Schools District 90 and Oak Park Elementary School District 97. We offer more than 200 courses, a variety of programs for students with special needs, 75 clubs and activities, and 29 competitive sports. We prepare our students well for post-secondary success, with an average ACT composite score of 24 and a 94% graduation rate.

    Position Summary:
    This position requires the individual to complete special education evaluations, facilitate counseling groups, provide individual counseling, be involved in data collection and intervention, assist with writing and implementing behavior intervention plans, and to attend team meeting and IEP meetings. The position requires an individual to assist students with academic learning by providing strategic services that identify and address the social-emotional-environmental issues that interfere with the educational process. The School Psychology Intern will work collaboratively with parents/guardians, teachers, school staff, and community based resources that promote students’ positive school adjustment.
     
    Qualifications:

    1. Eligibility for an approved Internship in School Psychology.
    2. Demonstrated knowledge in assessment, consultation, counseling, technology, diversity, problem solving.
    3. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with students, staff and parents.
    4. Computer skills, including the use of spreadsheets and knowledge about evidence based practices and interventions that meet the social-emotional learning needs of all students.

     
    Certification, Licensure, Training: 
    Applicants must complete all requirements of this job as stated with the regulations of the Illinois State Board of Education (http://www.isbe.net) and polices of the Oak Park & River Forest School District 200 Board of Education.
     
    Essential Duties with Supervision: (Other duties may be assigned)

    1. Determines and implements appropriate evidence based strategies to effect changes in behavioral interactions of students.
    2. Provides individual and group counseling to students.
    3. Collaborate with school staff and other school system personnel in implementing strategies and interventions to promote student learning, growth, and development. 
    4. Provide crisis intervention services.
    5. Provide staff consultation on behavioral and emotional issues affecting student participation in the learning process.
    6. Conduct classroom meetings, psycho-educational social skills groups, and classroom presentations on identified areas of concern for the students.
    7. Maintain required clinical records and submits appropriate documents for statistical reports with adherence to program standards in school psychology.
    8. Serve as a liaison between families and the school to positively promote collaborative processes in educational planning for students by encouraging parent/guardian participation in the school setting.
    9. Conduct phone calls related to establishing communication and positive connections between the parent/guardian and school setting around identified issues.
    10. Locate community resources to support the educational program.  
    11. Serve as liaison with agencies and assists in fostering communication between schools, parents/guardians, and community.
    12. Attend meetings and professional development activities as required.
    13. Complete psycho-educational evaluations, including academic, cognitive, adaptive, and emotional assessments. Interprets the results and presents in IEP meetings.
    14. Perform other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
    15. Collaborate to complete and implement functional behavior analysis and behavior intervention plans.
    16. Assist with reading and math benchmarking, data collection and analysis.

    1. Works within the policies and regulations of the OPRF; Illinois public acts and regulations as described by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE); and applicable Federal laws, regulations and guidelines applicable to the education of high school students and staff.
    2. Makes professional decisions that demonstrate support of the mission, goals and best interests of OPRF as expressed Board of Education approved documents including the Strategic Plan and Building Improvement Plans.
    3. Responsible for the safety, well-being, and work output of others under his/her supervision.
    4. Utilizes community, state and national resources where necessary to promote the safety and welfare of students.

    2. have vision abilities required include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus (The ability to withstand long-term use of computer devices is required.),
    3. to have occasional lifting carrying, pushing, and/or pulling and dexterity actions within job standards

     
    Performance Evaluation:
    Supervising School Psychologist will complete all evaluation materials.
