POSITION SUMMARY

The IT Intern will assist the Information Technology Team with various projects and tasks for WEL Companies.  Along with the duties listed below, you will be working to understand the transportation industry culture and familiarize yourself with the overall scope of the industry. In this position, the employee will be responsible for assisting the IT Team with projects and support at the WEL Companies De Pere, WI location. The IT Intern will also be expected to assist with projects and remote support for our remote terminal locations when necessary. This is a temporary position that will provide employment for the length of a college semester with the possibility of employment extension.  The employee will be evaluated at the end of the semester and the potential for continued employment, including summer employment, will be based on the employee’s performance evaluation.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assisting with deployment of company technology.
  • Basic desktop support for De Pere employees.
  • Basic remote desktop support for remote employees.
  • General computer/server hardware and software troubleshooting.
  • Assisting with projects relating to network infrastructure.
  • Complete other assigned projects to enhance, maintain and support current software.

Qualifications

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education:

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) or qualified experience: required
  • Two-year or 4-year college or technical school program in Information Technology, Information Systems, Management Information Systems (MIS) and having an active status pursuing degree or related field; required

Essential Skills:

  • Strong communication skills – both interpersonal and organizational.
  • Ability to be organized and work independently when assigned tasks or given instruction.
  • Comfortable with face-to-face tech support and remote tech support.
  • Troubleshooting skills.
  • Positive attitude and open to learning and understanding new technology.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Windows operating systems and MS O365 Suite.
  • Basic understanding of an Active Directory domain environment.
  • Basic understanding of networking and networking equipment.
