As we continue to expand, we seek a dynamic and experienced leader to join our team as the Head of Property Accounting. We seek a tech-savvy and strategic Head of Property Accounting to lead our property accounting team. This pivotal role will be instrumental in centralizing our back-of-house operations and ensuring high-quality, efficient, and automated accounting processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Management: Oversee and lead the entire property accounting organization, including our outsourced partners. Manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Centralization and Outsourcing: Develop and implement strategies for centralizing back-of-house operations. Expanding outsourcing opportunities to enhance efficiency and scalability while maintaining high quality and compliance standards.
- Process Improvement and Automation: Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to streamline accounting operations, reduce errors, and increase productivity. Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies to ensure RKW remains at the forefront of innovation.
- Stakeholder Alignment: Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including property management teams, investors, and external partners. Ensure alignment of accounting processes with overall business objectives and strategies.
- Financial Reporting and Compliance: Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies. Oversee the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts. Review and approve financial accounting working papers to ensure effective property accounting, including follow-ups and resolutions as required. Ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulations. Ensure compliance with all relevant covenants and associated risks.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA
- Superuser with RealPage
- 8+ years of experience in the property management or real estate industry
- 15+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
- Proven track record in centralizing and outsourcing accounting functions.
- Strong background in process improvement, automation, and the implementation of accounting systems.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- MBA preferred
