    5.    Organizational Skills: The coach should be well-organized and capable of managing various aspects of the team, including scheduling practices and games, coordinating travel, and handling administrative tasks (Home Campus, officials).
    6.    Commitment to Player Development: Looking for a coach who prioritizes the development of players both athletically and personally. They should be invested in helping each player reach their full potential.
    7.    Adherence to Safety Protocols: Safety should be a top priority for any coach, especially at the high school level. Coach should be knowledgeable about safety protocols and have a commitment to keeping players safe during practices and games.
    8.    Character and Integrity: Seeking candidates who demonstrate honesty, integrity, and good sportsmanship. The coach should serve as a positive role model for their players both on and off the field.
    9.    Ability to Work with Others: A head coach should be able to collaborate effectively with assistant coaches, athletic department staff, and parents to create a positive and supportive environment for the team.
    10.    Commitment to Education: While winning is important, a good head coach should also prioritize the academic success of their players and support them in balancing athletics with their academic responsibilities.
    11.    Certifications and Training: Depending on the school or state requirements, the coach may need specific certifications or training in areas such as CPR, first aid, and coaching education courses.
    12.    References and Background Checks: District will be checking references and conduct background checks to ensure that the candidate has a history of positive coaching experiences and no red flags.

    Florida law requires all Athletic Coaches to hold either a valid Florida Educator Certificate or a valid Athletic Coaching Certificate. The Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) issues two types of Athletic Coaching Certificates. The Three-Year Athletic Coaching Certificate is issued to provide time to complete the Five-Year Athletic Coaching Certificate requirements. An additional Athletic Coaching Certificate is not required for individuals who hold a valid Florida Educator’s Certificate.
