Job description:

We are seeking a highly motivated Fund Accounting Associate to join our client’s team. In this critical role, you will work closely with the Manager of Fund Accounting, Senior Director of Accounting, Chief Financial Officer, and the broader leadership team to execute the financial reporting and operations of private equity real estate investment funds. You will also collaborate with third-party fund administrators, external auditors, and tax consultants to deliver high-quality financial reporting to investors.

 

Key Responsibilities:

·       Prepare and review fund-level quarterly financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP, ILPA guidelines, and industry standards.

·       Coordinate monthly close procedures within a defined timeframe, in collaboration with the third-party fund administrator and investment accounting team.

·       Review workpapers, fee calculations, waterfalls, and investor statements.

·       Review secured debt quarterly compliance reports.

·       Facilitate annual audits of various investment vehicles.

·       Maintain and document policies and procedures around financial reporting, internal controls, and other accounting processes.

·       Work closely with the external tax team on information requests, data analysis, registrations, filings, and return reviews.

·       Manage REIT compliance and serve as a liaison between asset managers and tax consultants.

·       Maintain quarterly variance reporting at the fund level.

·       Provide acquisition and transaction support for the Investments team.

 

Requirements:

·       Strong analytical and technical accounting skills.

·       Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

·       Experience with Yardi and/or Workiva is a big plus.

·       Working knowledge of GAAP and fair value accounting principles.

·       Strong work ethic, self-motivated, and capable of making effective independent judgments.

·       Acute attention to detail and a passion for quality.

·       Excellent organizational and process management skills to handle multiple priorities.

·       Ability to meet critical deadlines and work independently.

·       Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and work collaboratively in a team environment.

·       Experience in commercial real estate and/or fund accounting is a plus.

·       Eagerness to collaborate with a small internal team and external third-party vendors.

 

Qualifications:

·       Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a business-related field.

·       Master’s degree or CPA is a plus.

·       2+ years of experience in a public or private mix.
