Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio and Planned Parenthood Advocates of Ohio is seeking a mission-minded Associate to join us as part time (20 hours per week) Field Organizing Fellow.
SUMMARY
Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio boasts a grassroots infrastructure across the state which works to defend and promote reproductive freedom. The purpose of the Fellowship Program is to support people who are engaged in their community and passionate about equitable abortion access, access to sexual and reproductive health care, meaningful and comprehensive sex education, as well as building a powerful movement and supporting strong, healthy communities. Fellows will work alongside the Planned Parenthood Advocates of Ohio (PPAO) team, the advocacy arm of Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio and Planned Parenthood of Southwest Ohio, to defend and promote reproductive freedom in their communities through leadership development, community and civic engagement, grassroots and legislative advocacy, and communications.
PPAO’s Field Organizing Program focuses on using field tactics and digital tools to build our base of supporters as well as to engage a diverse base of supporters through our campaigns and programs. Field Organizing Fellows will work alongside our Regional Field Managers to build and expand our Black Organizing, Raíz, and Youth Organizing programs as well as work on a wide range of timebound campaigns including but not limited to voter registration, redistricting, and COVID-19.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Have a strong passion for reproductive freedom, health, and justice.
- Commitment to reproductive freedom and using a REI and DEI lens in the work.
- Recruit and engage volunteers and supporters for volunteer programs and campaigns.
- Assist the field and digital organizing team with planning and implementing events.
- Participate in at least eight (8) engagement events or trainings during the program.
- Lead at least three (3) actions, events or trainings.
- Collect at least five (5) stories from patient advocates.
- Attend 80% of mandatory fellowship meetings.
- Engage supporters in social media discussions on campaigns, programs, and volunteer recruitment.
- Data management for supporter engagement.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
- High school diploma or GED
- Previous experience in grassroots campaigns, Planned Parenthood volunteer experience preferred.
- Strong commitment to quality health care
- Interest in reproductive health care, rights and social justice issues. Commitment to reproductive freedom and to the mission, goals, and objectives of PPGOH and PPAO.
- Excellent communication (oral, written, presentation, and image) skills and the ability to move people to action.
- Excellent time and project management skills. Ability to coordinate several simultaneous projects and events.
- Strong computer skills, including database and internet proficiency.
- Ability to work professionally in an often tense environment.
- Ability to function well as a team member, especially on a remote team.
- Ability to communicate professionally with individuals of diverse backgrounds in a non-judgmental manner.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sensitivity in dealing with clients’ sexuality and reproductive healthcare choices.
- Ability to build and maintain positive and productive relationships.
- Must be self-directed with ability to work collaboratively and independently.
