Essential functions (job duties):

Purpose:

The faculty biostatistician will be working with the department of Internal Medicine residents, fellows and faculty to educate and assist them with developing research projects. This includes the write up, statistical analysis, data gathering, documentation, journal and conference paper submissions and other elements. 

Duties:

·         Assist residents, fellows and faculty in developing experimental designs for research studies and writing statistical   analysis plans.

·         Analyze research data and prepare statistical reports related to program goals – maintain sophisticated database of all   reports, surveys, and research documentation.

·         Provide research support to residents, fellows and faculty in Department of Internal Medicine.

·         Write reports of the statistical methods and results of statistical analyses.

·         Provide consultation and advice on statistical design and analysis, and collaborative research throughout the Department of Internal Medicine.

·         Develop sample methods, determine sample size and draw samples of populations to be studied.

·         Provide the most appropriate statistical procedures for evaluation of outcome of studies and a wide variety of statistical   procedures including, but not limited to, categorical data analysis, exploratory and graphical methods, analysis of   variance, correlation analysis, multiple linear regression, time series analysis, logistical regression, survival analysis,   spatial analysis, and non-parametric methods.

·         Support the preparation of peer-reviewed publications.

·         Contribute as a statistical reviewer and editor for other manuscripts produced by the Department.

·         Assemble research materials and draft summaries for internal and external reports.

·         Facilitate research business operations by serving as liaison for the Department related to research efforts.

·         Teach statistics sessions for residents/faculty, present at didactics to help residents with statistical analysis understanding.

 

·         Attend, participate and provide input at monthly resident journal club.

Unique duties:


Qualifications:

·         PhD degree required.

·         3-5 years of experience in research, statistical analysis, and working with students and faculty

·         Ability to analyze problems and recommend appropriate action to effect resolution.

·         Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with internal and external units.

·         Ability to prioritize under circumstances of tight deadlines and competing tasks.

·         Proficiency in database management and statistical analysis.

·         Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

·         Strong verbal and written communication skills.
