KIPP Capital Region is a part of a national network of high-performing public Charter Schools committed to creating joyful, academically excellent, and prepared students with the skills, ability, and confidence to pursue their paths to college, career, and beyond.
With the Troy Prep K-12 schools joining the KIPP Capital Region network for the 2022-2023 school year, our KIPP schools will serve more than 2,500 students across the Capital Region. POSITION OVERVIEW
The Equity Engagement Intern is responsible for performing and assisting with various administrative tasks and projects to support the Equity Team.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in the development and implementation of Equity programs and initiatives.
- Conduct basic research on Equity trends and best practices to contribute insights for improvement.
- Help organize and coordinate Equity events and workshops for the KIPP Capital Region community.
- Support marketing efforts to promote Equity initiatives across various platforms.
- Build and maintain relationships with community organizations and diverse employee groups.
- Assist in creating content for internal and external communications, including newsletters, social media posts, and website updates.
- Assist with various administrative tasks, community outreach and engagement related to our KIPP Capital Region Equity work.
- Collaborate across cross-functional areas to analyze surveys to support KIPP Capital Region culture.
- Provide administrative support for Equity projects as needed
- Deliver administrative support for Equity functions, including scheduling meetings and handling correspondence.
- Occasionally attend meetings virtually, take notes, and outline next steps or support in drafting meeting agendas and materials.
- Support Equity Team with maintaining Equity databases and systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness of information.
- Respond to employee inquiries and redirect to appropriate Equity team members when necessary.
- Design and create equity team slide decks, posters, and school bulletin boards
- Lead administrative responsibilities with the development and maintenance of Equity policies and procedures.
- Coordinate employee training sessions and workshops and support the development of training materials and resources.
- Help track employee training completion and maintain training records

- Complies with all charter, federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including the NYS Department of Education, Department of Health, and NYS Office of Children and Family Services

- Please note: Infrequent travel to different KIPP Capital Region schools is required
- Must be willing and able to take a Criminal History Background Check
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED and currently enrolled in an Associate, Bachelor, or Masters program from an accredited College or University preferred.
- Interest in working in a dynamic and supportive work environment committed to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Well-Being, and Belonging.
- Open to an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on our community culture and external relationships.
- Knowledge of Canva (preferred), Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Suite.
- The internship is ideally suited for individuals seeking hands-on experience in Equity.
- The internship duration may vary depending on academic requirements and organizational needs.
- Knowledge of proper office procedures, including filing, answering the telephone professionally, photocopying, greeting all visitors cordially, and handling information with confidentiality.
- Preferred experience working directly with students, preferably required in the charter, private, or public school environment.
- Prior experience working in schools and urban communities is preferred but not required.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule outside of regular business hours.
- Aptitude to create and work within an inclusive environment that honors and supports a diversity of backgrounds and perspectives.

KIPP Capital Region offers a competitive salary ranging from $38,000 – $42,000.
Salaries are determined using an equitable compensation scale that accounts for years of experience relevant to the role and longevity within the KIPP network. KIPP Capital Region will evaluate and determine the step/level a new hire will be placed within our teacher salary scale at point of hire.
