Are you an environmental professional seeking a challenging opportunity to grow your career with a firm committed to our employees and providing high-quality service to our clients? S&ME is looking for an eager and dedicated full-time Environmental Scientist team in Charlotte, North Carolina.
About the Role:
As an Environmental Scientist, under the direction of a project manager, you will perform office and field work associated with traditional environmental assessments, compliance, and permitting projects as well as support our industrial hygiene team.
- Conduct fieldwork and reporting for environmental assessments, including Phase I and Phase II ESAs and Brownfields assessments.
- Oversee soil borings, monitoring wells, and vapor point installations; collect and analyze groundwater, vapor, and soil/sediment samples.
- Perform fieldwork, assessments, and reporting for industrial hygiene contaminants and hazardous materials, including but not limited to asbestos, lead-based paint, mold, PCBs, mercury, and indoor air quality.
- Monitor compliance through stormwater sampling and underground storage tank (UST) assessments and investigations.
- Record and interpret data, compare results to regulations, and prepare standard environmental reports.
About You:
- You have a Bachelor’s degree in biology, environmental science, geology, chemistry or related field
- You have 2+ years of experience in a related field
- You have basic technical writing skills at the college level
- You have OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Training
Are You Willing and Able to:
Perform the physical demands of the position with the use of company-provide Personal Protective Equipment such as:
- Working with environmental exposures in a safe manner
- Working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs
- Traveling out-of-town (typically overnight) for assignments as necessary
- Working outside of normal business hours when necessary
