Entry-Level Civil Engineer

Are you an engineering graduate seeking a challenging opportunity with a firm committed to our employees and providing excellence? S&ME is looking for an eager and dedicated full-time Entry- Level Civil Engineer to join our Energy team in Charlotte, North Carolina.
About the Role:
As an Entry-Level Civil Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in designing and developing projects for Energy, Industrial, and Government clients, ranging from natural gas pipelines and facilities, electrical distribution and transmission systems, renewables, landfills, mining facilities, dams, water resources, and stream restoration. Under the guidance of Professional Engineers, you’ll engage in conceptual design, engineering analysis, detailed calculations, and cost estimating. Your day-to-day tasks will include preparing drawings, calculations, specifications, and reports, as well as conducting site inspections. You’ll also assist with grading plans, stormwater management, utility systems design, permitting, and seamlessly communicate with clients, ensuring projects are both innovative and efficient.
About You:
- You have a Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related field
- You have 0-2 years of progressive experience in civil engineering design projects
- You are eligible for the Professional Engineer’s (P.E.) exam within 4-5 years
- You are well-organized with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work
- You have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- You have previous exposure to AutoCAD, Civil3D, stormwater and utility modeling programs, a plus
Are You Willing and Able to:
Perform the physical demands of the position with the use of company-provide Personal Protective Equipment such as:
- Working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Traveling out-of-town (typically overnight) for assignments as necessary
- Working outside of normal business hours when necessary
