Our summer intern experience is designed to provide students with a challenging and meaningful internship to gain valuable hands-on experience. All students in the program will be given a project with clear learning objectives and desired outcomes. At the conclusion of the internship, each intern will have the opportunity to present their summer project to leadership. Interns will also have exposure to other areas of 3D Systems to learn about all of our solutions. You will be given the opportunity to network with other interns and colleagues at 3D Systems including our senior leaders.

About The Position

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Electrical Engineering Intern to join our team. In this role, you will support our engineering team with a variety of projects, contributing to the design, testing, and implementation of electrical systems and components. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop technical skills while working on real-world projects alongside experienced engineers.

Position Location: 3D Systems’ manufacturing facility located in Rock Hill, SC

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Assist in the design, prototyping, and testing of electrical circuits and systems under the guidance of senior engineers. 
  • Perform basic calculations and simulations to verify the feasibility of design concepts.
  • Support the development and maintenance of documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and test plans.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and debugging electrical components and systems.
  • Conduct research and compile data on materials, components, and processes relevant to ongoing projects.
  • Work with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineering, software engineering, and manufacturing, to ensure seamless integration of electrical components.
  • Adhere to industry standards and company safety procedures in all project activities.

What You’ll Need:

Experience Required:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of electrical engineering principles and circuit design.
  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks Electrical, Altium) and simulation tools (e.g., SPICE, MATLAB) is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of embedded systems, microcontrollers, or PCB layout is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and adapt to changing project requirements.

Qualifications for the Intern Program:

  • Ability to work 40 hours per week in the specified location from May to August. A housing stipend can be provided only in unique circumstances
  • Currently enrolled as a student seeking an undergraduate or master’s degree
  • Preference is for current students who are rising seniors in an undergraduate program or final year students in a graduate program from an accredited school and program.
  • Preference is given to students with internship/co-op/research experience
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization
