The Raymore-Peculiar Buildings and Grounds Department is seeking a Raymore-Peculiar High School Student to fill the position of Drone Operator Intern begining January 2, 2025.
The Drone Operator Student Intern will support the school district’s technology and facilities initiatives by assisting with drone operations, data collection, and related tasks. This internship provides an opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in drone technology while contributing to real-world projects within the school district. Key responsibilities may include:
- Assist in operating drones for various school district projects, including aerial photography, videography, and surveying.
- Ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and district policies.
- Conduct pre-flight inspections, including battery checks, calibrations, and environmental assessments.
- Capture and process aerial images and videos as required for district projects.
- Assist in analyzing data collected through drone operations for purposes such as mapping, infrastructure inspection, or event documentation.
- Collaborate with district staff on innovative uses of drones in education, maintenance, and public relations.
- Provide support for technology demonstrations and presentations.
- Follow all safety guidelines during drone operations to ensure the safety of people and property.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of drone equipment.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance drone operation skills and understanding of relevant technologies.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in drone technology.
Qualifications:
- Current enrollment as a Raymore-Peculiar High School Student.
- Must possess or be willing to obtain an FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate.
- Valid driver’s license (if applicable for travel to project sites).

- Flexible hours to accommodate school schedules, typically 10-15 hours per week.
