Essential functions (job duties):
Provide physician-directed, policy and procedure aligned specialized nursing treatment, care, and education.
Educate, model, and counsel on leading/providing/adapting to the current state of science of adiposity-based chronic disease (ABCD) in nutrition, mediation, fitness, sleep, dentition, and stress contexts, including management and monitoring.
Coordinate the development, utilization, and evaluation of educational resources and interventions that assist the patient/caregiver in optimal self-care. Counsel, support, and serve as a resource to patients and families for shared problem-solving in individual, family, group, and conference settings.
Proactively collaborate with division personnel and patients to curate patient/clinical/operational/experimental data and to optimize individual patient/department/population health outcomes.
Utilize current nursing and clinical research to support evidence-bases clinical decision-making and practice.
Participate in quality/performance improvement programs and projects, product evaluation, outcomes evaluation studies and/or clinical research.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education Bachelor’s degree
Experience Experienced (minimum 2 years of job-related experience)
Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure with the State of Michigan is required
PROBLEM-SOLVING: Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, establish facts, and draw
valid conclusions; gather and analyze information skillfully; Basic collegiate science major-level math
skills and statistical skills; ability to interpret and solve practical
problems with an extensive variety of information that deals with several
abstract and concrete variables; ability to apply common sense, good judgment,
and problem-solving skills in difficult situations. INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Ability to establish and maintain effective
working relationships with faculty members, students, residents, staff,
patients, and other third parties; Can apply effective interpersonal skills to
provide service. Comfortable working in a team environment. Adapts to changes
in the work environment. TIME MANAGEMENT: Ability to lead and direct student-clinicians
as they work to understand diabetes education.
Ability to manage multiple priorities.
Prioritizes and plans work activities. Adapts for changing
conditions. COMPUTER SKILLS: MS Comprehensive Office Suite capability; Ability
to navigate computer systems and enter data into database, operate keyboards,
printers, etc.
Preferred qualifications:
Preferred: 1 – 2 years of Diabetic Education, and advanced knowledge of Diabetes Education; Certified Diabetes Educator Certification through the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators.
