Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of automated software testing, data analysis, and cybersecurity solutions for complex, mission-critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DOD) are currently seeking qualified candidates for its Summer Internship Program which has concentrations in Software Engineering and Systems Engineering.
IDT’s Summer Internship Program offers students the opportunity to learn from experts and perform meaningful work in a professional work environment. IDT interns gain valuable, hands-on experience and solve real-world problems. In this program, students can expect:

- Support security automation efforts, including static code analysis and security scanning for containers.
- Help integrate security checks into Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to ensure secure software development.
- Collaborate with the team to enhance infrastructure security, including cloud and containerized environments.
- Participate in identifying and mitigating security vulnerabilities in development environments.
- Work with internal teams to ensure compliance with relevant security standards and regulations.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of DevSecOps practices and processes.
- Hands-on experience in DevSecOps, with exposure to real-world challenges.
- Mentorship from experienced engineers and leaders in the defense technology space.
- Insight into security and development processes for mission-critical systems.
- Exposure to advanced tools and technologies, such as Kubernetes, Docker, Ansible, Jenkins, and security testing tools.

- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Familiarity with programming languages like Python, JavaScript, or Shell scripting.
- Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (Ansible, Puppet) and security testing tools (SAST, DAST).
- Familiarity with DevSecOps and CI/CD practices.
- Basic understanding of containerization technologies (Docker, podman) and virtualization environments (e.g., VMware).
- Interest in security concepts, automation, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and eagerness to learn.
