Job Summary
Enhances the environment for students’ learning and coordinates initiatives to facilitate medical students’ transition to Atrium Health and the regional medical campus. Assists leadership and the clerkship directors to ensure the highest quality educational experience. Manages scheduling, organizes lectures and evaluations, and performs other duties as required by Medical Education.
Essential Functions
Functions as one of the primary representatives of the undergraduate medical education program at Atrium Health with strong management, interpersonal skills, and cultural competence.
Manages testing for National Board of Medical Examiner on campus; registration, proctoring, incident management, IT support and score reporting.
Processes highly sensitive data and enforces FERPA guidelines about student privacy.
Handles highly sensitive student information to provide a reasonable accommodation covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act and HIPAA.
Provides guidance and resource referrals to students who share personal problems, and determines when leadership should be notified.
Assigns rotation schedules for campus students and coordinates schedules with applicable medical school for visiting 3rd and 4th year medical students.
Organizes training and orientation for students; serves as a primary resource for transition support to Atrium Health facilities, including badge access to various campuses and other student requirements.
Serves as lead coordinator and manages departmental medical student coordinators as needed.
Serves as a liaison between various internal teammates, relevant departments, medical students and the students primary medical school.
Assists Physician Director with coordination of system wide educational programs, and accreditation needs.
Coordinates individual group meetings for medical students, medical student coordinators, and medical student directors.
Follows up with faculty to timely complete medical student evaluations.
Maintains appropriate and timely data within electronic data management systems, and provides user support to faculty, students, and staff.
Travels to various campus locations for training and recruitment purposes.
In coordination with appropriate leadership, organizes and prioritizes necessary tasks, initiates changes and resolves issues as they arise.
Collects relevant data and prepares reports for both short and long term reporting and trend analyses: maintains student data files, gathers information on the effectiveness of course components and overall clerkship experience.
Prepares clerkship materials, schedules and participates in the clerkship orientation and assessments, and faculty development.
Provides administrative support for clerkship directors/faculty and students: plans meetings, schedules lectures and student meetings, arranges conference calls, organizes retreats and faculty development.
Physical Requirements
Work occurs in an office environment. Work requires long periods of sitting, occasional lifting and walking. Responsible to work in a safe manner. Occasional travel to meetings required on monthly basis.
Education, Experience and Certifications
Bachelors Degree required; Masters Degree preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology and experience as a Medical Student Coordinator preferred. Experience with online testing in a secure environment preferred. Skilled in Microsoft Office Products preferred. Experience with an understanding of LCME accreditation standards is preferred.
