HOLT Truck Centers has a great opportunity for an IT internship. This part-time internship will receive on-the-job training and will be an onsite position. The intern’s primary purpose is to learn and develop an understanding of the overall operation of their assigned department. The Intern – IT will assist professional staff by providing computer hardware, software, technical, and/or administrative support.
Essential Functions:
- Provides administrative support for the Information Technologies department (documentation, knowledge base, makes copies, answers phones/e-mails)
- Assists with computer hardware installation, configuration, troubleshooting
- Assists with gathering requirements for technical projects and tasks
- Responds to incoming calls and logs service requests for Service Desk
- Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
- Requires regular and punctual employee attendance
- Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint); ability to produce information in spreadsheets, documents, forms, tables, and presentations
- Knowledge of the operation of personal computers, PC Operating Systems, PC Printers, and peripherals including diagnostic and troubleshooting techniques
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional skills in customer service
- Strong organization skills, detailed-oriented, and ability to work on multiple projects
- Excellent interpersonal skills to establish working relationships with multiple departments and various levels of the organization
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, coworkers, and customers (internal and external)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Education and Experience:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related discipline
- Must possess a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA
Travel:
- Travel is not expected for this position
Physical Requirements:
- This position involves extended periods in a stationary position; additionally, occasional movement inside the office to access office machinery, file cabinets, etc.
- This role frequently communicates with others, must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines
Work Environment:
- This job is generally performed in a professional office environment in environmentally controlled conditions
- Essential functions are performed in close physical proximity to other people
- Frequently works at fast pace with unscheduled interruptions
