Atrium Health has opened new, state-of-the-art facilities in Charlotte’s Midtown neighborhood. Atrium Health Kenilworth Medical Plaza I and II is an $228.1 million investment into improved care. The more than 400,000 square-foot plaza integrates a range of top-rated specialty services across disciplines into one location. Patients will have access to outpatient care across the medical spectrum, including teams from Atrium Health Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute, Atrium Health Neurosciences Institute, Atrium Health Pharmacy, Atrium Health Perspective Health & Wellness, gastroenterology, infectious disease, palliative care, pulmonology and urology. 

The new medical plaza offers:

  • Advanced cardiovascular imaging capabilities, all in one location. The new space includes a comprehensive outpatient cardiovascular imaging facility with advanced modalities, including cardiac CT and MRI, all located in one location.
  • Expanded virtual care offerings. With a continued commitment to delivering innovative care, teams will have access to the new Cardiovascular Virtual Care Center, where data from wearable devices and other innovations in care delivery will be best integrated with everyday care.
  • The only center in the region dedicated to athletes. The Center for Sports Cardiology– a collaboration between Sanger and Atrium Health Musculoskeletal Institute – will house a range of services, such as sports-specific cardiovascular testing and lifestyle and nutrition coaching.
  • Expanded wellness facilities. A new 13,000 square-foot advanced cardiac rehabilitation and wellness center will offer triple the amount of space in its new location.
  • Access to a “whole-health approach.” With the new facility comes the opportunity to provide nutrition and healthy cooking techniques to community partners and patients. A state-of-the-art demonstration kitchen will enable teams to share a hands-on approach to heart-healthy eating.
  • Support for advancing research and innovation. With the new Center for Cardiovascular Research and the Center for Cardiovascular Care Transformation, teams will have dedicated spaces to foster the development and implementation of advances in care delivery.
  • Enhanced opportunities for continuing education. Teams will have access to a 150-seat auditorium, providing the opportunity for professional conferences and events to advance cardiovascular education.
  • Streamlined access to efficient care. Comprehensive outpatient clinics in the new location are integrated across disciplines, enabling care teams to work seamlessly together in evaluating patients.

Job Summary
The Cardiac CT Supervisor oversees CT operations at the Kenilworth Imaging Center and provides indirect leadership for multiple hospitals in Charlotte, NC. This role is pivotal in maintaining high standards of patient care, operational efficiency, and staff development within Atrium Health’s cardiac CT program.  Key responsibilities include Technologist educational efforts, quality assurance, and performance feedback to direct and indirect teammates.  Continuous improvement will be a key focus to ensure the program’s continued success as one of the nation’s largest Cardiac CT programs.

Essential Functions

  • Supervises activities of the assigned area and provides adequate coverage of all scanners or work assignments daily. Supervision includes monitoring of the staff’s productivity levels, accuracy of exam protocols to include all required data parameters and measurements while ensuring appropriate care and monitoring.
  • Coordinates and organizes patient or work task flow thru the assigned department, prioritizing procedures and shifting workloads as needed.
  • Ensures adequate patient care is provided as it relates to the procedures requested.
  • Validates quality of exams and the final product performed by all staff within the section. Participates in the training of staff and conducts in-service education and staff meetings as needed.
  • Orders and maintains appropriate supplies for the assigned area. Ensures a process for security of supplies, PAR levels, etc. for each shift.
  • Is authorized to obtain medication or contrast material as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner, authorized/certified technologist, or registered nurse. Medications to include contrast materials cannot be administered without appropriate clinical credentials, training, and certification to do so.
  • Maintains teammate records on assigned staff. Documents PTO, reasons for absences and tardiness. Documents errors and exceptional performance, complaints, and conferences held with individual staff members. Performs payroll functions with documentation of overtime and hours worked. Performs performance appraisals and carries out coaching, counseling, and discipline as needed. Determines merit increases based on budget and policy guidelines.
  • Maintains and communicates status reports for patient throughput, equipment downtime, and supply charges.
  • Responsible for the care and safety of patients in assigned area. Ensures processes for checking IV’s, vents, and other equipment patients were transported with. Assures patients are continuously monitored while in the treatment areas.
  • Maintains a clean, safe working environment for patients and staff.
  • Provides in-service education for staff on new equipment, procedures, safety policies, infection control, radiation safety, and various required electronic communication platforms.
  • Ensures appropriate equipment quality assurance to maintain both regulatory compliance and properly functioning equipment that enables quality diagnostic imaging. Reports to/requests engineering support as needed.
  • Ensures correct billing of exams by monitoring and developing processes for accurate coding and chargemaster compliance.
  • Works with the physician staff to maintain up-to-date SOP’s and procedural guidelines.
  • Assists in departmental QA/PI activities as required.

Physical Requirements
Requires moderate to heavy physical efforts in lifting and moving patients, equipment, and supplies. Work requires walking, standing, sitting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling during normal operations. Requires mental capacity to understand the assigned area of clinical expertise or technology. Motor coordination needed to operate equipment including various computer systems. Intact sense of sight and hearing. Required to use radiation safety, MRI safety, and proper ergonomics to maintain an effective, safe environment.

Education, Experience and Certifications
Graduate of AMA approved Radiologic Technology or Ultrasound program based on assigned area. Bachelor’s degree preferred. BLS certification required. A minimum of 3 years of experience in the designated field is required. Leadership experience preferred.

  • For Ultrasound: Registry/Certification required by the ARDMS with Vascular certification preferred.
  • For CT Scanning: Registry required by the ARRT with advanced certification in CT
  • For MRI: ARRT certification in Radiologic Technology or NMTCB for Nuclear Medicine with advanced registry from the ARMRIT or ARRT in MRI required.
  • For AV: Registry required by the ARRT with advanced certification in MRI or CT
  • For Echo: Completion of certification or registry in Echocardiography RCS (Registered Cardiac Sonographer) or RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer) required.
  • For Nuclear Medicine: Successful completion of AMA approved Nuclear Medicine Technology program required. Registered with NMTCB or ARRT (N) required.
