DESCRIPTION OF WORK During this internship, you will support mechanics in developing the essential skills required for safe and effective operation within an automotive garage environment. The student will acquire competencies necessary for conducting general repairs and maintenance on automobiles and light trucks. Responsibilities will include assisting with or executing a variety of repair and maintenance tasks. Once proficiency is established, you will utilize power tools, hand tools, and air tools. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and servicing the work area, tools, and equipment. It is encouraged to seek clarification on any uncertainties or when faced with unfamiliar challenges. Consistently practicing and adhering to safety protocols is paramount throughout the internship.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Work schedule will vary based on agreement between high school and COPA location
- This is an in person (no telework) position.
- High School Internship for the 2024-2025 School Year. Internship dates available from December 15, 2024 – June 30, 2024.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Internship Requirements:- You must be at least 16 years of age.
- You must be a junior or senior enrolled in High School during the 2024 – 25 school year.
Additional Requirements:
- Letter of Recommendation: You must attach a Letter of Recommendation from your school’s co-op coordinator, career or guidance counselor, or similar designated school professional indicating you meet your school’s requirements and are being recommended for this opportunity.
- Work Permit: Minors will be required to submit their Work Permit upon acceptance of this position.
- By participating in this program, the student and school agree to use the Commonwealth’s Training Plan, Statement of Responsibilities, and Student Performance Evaluation. Forms will be provided to the student upon acceptance of this position.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
