Job Description

EDC is developing an evidence-informed curriculum called Mental Health for All (MHFA) designed for youth that is a collection of many mental health interventions. The goals of the curriculum are three-fold:

  1. To reduce mental health symptoms (anxiety and depression) among young people
  2. To increase youth’s use of coping skills in daily life
  3. To significantly improve the global score of overall youth resilience

The MHFA team is developing a series of Interactive Audio Instruction (IAI) programs to cover the content across 10 modules. The team will also develop videos and social media content that will go hand in hand with the IAI programs.

The Mental Health for All project has an opening for an Audio Production Intern reporting to the Director of Media Production.

Internship Duration: November through February

The Role 

The Intern will assist the Director of Media Production and the rest of the MHFA team to revise the existing recordings as well as any new recordings in order to complete all 10 modules in a timely fashion. 

Essential Functions

  • Assist the MHFA EDC Team to finalize existing modules and assist with completion of the new modules
  • Organize files received from the Philippines audio team
  • Review notes from the EDC team that attended the pilot
  • Listen to recorded scripts and notate any errors in the audio
  • Do some audio editing as needed
  • Review videos to notate any spelling errors or other errors that may not match scripts
  • Assist with any other tasks as appropriate

The person in this position is expected to communicate clearly and courteously; to develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, consultants, collaborators, co-workers, field sites, and funders; and to work respectfully with EDC colleagues. The job requires adherence to EDC policies & procedures.


Qualifications

This position requires educational achievement; excellent writing skills; demonstrable initiative, creativity, and flexibility; ability to work independently and effectively in groups; and strong interpersonal & organizational skills. 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Currently enrolled in a Master’s degree program in the preferred field of Audio Technology or Audio Production

Required Skills and Experience

  • 1 year of related experience
  • Ability to work with various Digital Audio Workstations such as Pro Tools and Reaper
  • Ability to edit dialog
  • Ability to effectively use plug-ins for noise reduction (preferred)
  • Understanding of the audio recording and production process
  • Ability to read and understand the elements of scripts
  • Be detail oriented

This position offers an anticipated hourly rate of $18. Salary offers are made based on market analysis and internal equity.
