Summary

Assists in the prevention and rehabilitation of student athletes’ injuries and illnesses to encourage and maintain student athletes’ wellness

Essential Job Functions

  • Provides care, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation, under the direction of the head athletic trainer, for athletic injuries and illnesses incurred by student athletes during competition or practice and keeps medical records of these instances
  • Updates student athletes, coaches, athletic administration, parents, doctors, and support staff on athletes’ injuries and illnesses
  • Works with team physicians to determine athlete’s eligibility to return to practice and/or competition
  • Organizes educational lectures (e.g. drugs and alcohol, sex, nutrition, and coping skills) for student athletes
  • Organizes athletic training equipment and supplies
  • Supervises and manages student employees, as necessary, to enhance their academic and professional development
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree
  • Experience working in team athletics or other related experience
  • Licensed athletic trainer in North Carolina (or licensure eligible)
  • National Athletic Trainer Association Board Certification
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in sports medicine, health or a related field of study
