The Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling (MACC) Program is part of The CALIFORNIA SCHOOL OF PROFESSIONAL PSYCHOLOGY (CSPP) at Alliant International University.  The program emphasizes clinical competence, a strength-based focus on wellness and resilience, social justice advocacy, cross-cultural competence and personal growth. 

The MACC Program is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), a specialized accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

The MACC Program curriculum has been approved by the National Board of Certified Counselors -NBCC https://www.nbcc.org/.

The MACC Program has a chapter, Alpha Iota Upsilon of Chi Sigma Iota the International Honors Society in Counseling. https://csi-net.org

The MACC Program prepares master’s level mental health professionals to be competent counselors who apply psychotherapeutic techniques to assess, treat and prevent cognitive, mental, and emotional issues related to personal growth, adjustment issues, psychosocial and environmental stressors, substance abuse and crisis and trauma among other conditions and life issues. The focus of the mental health treatment approaches in clinical counseling includes promoting resilience, wellness and prevention rather than pathology. The 60-unit curriculum follows the CACREP 2016 standards and guidelines. The MACC program at Alliant is also a certified curriculum by the California State Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) educational requirements outlined in the Business and Professions Code (BPC) Section 4999.30 for Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors

The MACC Program at Alliant currently offers both on-line and on ground options to degree completion.

 

Required:

Doctorate in Counselor Education & Supervision, from a CACREP accredited program; ABD candidates may be considered (PhD must be conferred by the position start date) 

OR a related doctoral degree and have been employed as a full-time faculty in a counselor education program for a minimum of one full academic year before July 1, 2013.

License-eligible as LPCC in the State of California.
Professional identity as a professional counselor and counselor educator as evidence by active membership in appropriate counseling associations.
Demonstrated evidence of working in a Clinical Mental Health Counseling capacity (i.e. internships, graduate assistantships, professional work experience).
Demonstrated evidence of successful college teaching in both on ground and on-line environments.
Demonstrated evidence of designing, developing and assessment of on ground and on-line courses and student learning outcomes.
Demonstrated skills in working successfully in a collaborative interdisciplinary environment.
Demonstrated ability to teach and work successfully with persons from diverse populations and culturally diverse backgrounds.
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, and presentation skills.

 

Preferred:

Demonstrated evidence of successful masters or doctoral level teaching and supervision, training and experience in a CACREP accredited Marriage, Couple and Family Counseling degree program.

Experience with or knowledge of CACREP standards. Including ability to assist in assessing program curricula and evaluating operational policies and procedures for the program.

This position has both on ground teaching responsibilities at the Fresno, California Campus as well as on-line teaching opportunities. A relocation expense package is available.

Starting Salary: $72,203.

  • Faculty Activities/Responsibilities
    • Facilitating Learning
    • Facilitating classroom and distance/distributed learning
    • Course and syllabus preparation
    • Class curriculum coordination and planning
    • Assessment and evaluation of learners
    • Student selection, orientation, and assessment 
    • Mentoring and advising of students
    • Field placement supervision and coordination
    • Research/scholarship mentoring and supervision
  • Scholarship – Scholarship/ research reflecting the generation, integration, dissemination and application of knowledge, as well as creative and original contributions to one’s field commensurate with academic rank. 
  • Service – All faculty engage in service to the University, Community and Profession commensurate with academic rank.  Examples in each category include:
    • Service to the University: 
      • Hiring and evaluating faculty
      • Participating in developing, revising, and coordinating curriculum as well as maintaining program vitality 
      • Participating in processes to improve academic program quality
      • Participating in processes to improve quality of School, campus, and University faculty experience Participating in faculty governance

  • Duties Required of All Faculty – Certain duties are additionally required of all faculty and are not given formal workload credit but will be included in yearly evaluations. These include but are not limited to:
    • Active participation in campus life to sustain a high level of facilitated learning;
    • Participation in program governance, including program-based committees, with the exception of SERC which may receive up to three units of service workload credit at the discretion of the Program Director and the approval of the Dean and the Provost/VPAA;
    • Active participation in program and campus activities (including scheduled and impromptu meetings of faculty, staff, and students);
    • Picking up and promptly responding to paper, voice and electronic mail and messages;
    • Visibility and accessibility supporting a sense of community;
    • Regular accessibility either by person, by telephone and/or virtually to students, colleagues and the greater University community;
    • Posting of teaching schedules, office hours, and procedures for making appointments on the faculty member’s door, online and on syllabi;
    • Attendance and participation in program, department, faculty and Faculty Assembly meetings;
    • Responding in a timely fashion to students’ requests for meetings, to telephone calls, and to e-mail communications;
    • Participating in Faculty Assembly and program faculty meetings;
    • Carrying an advising load of up to fourteen students (depending on size of the program and the judgment of the Program Director);
    • Participation in hiring faculty;
    • Participation in developing, revising and coordinating curriculum and maintaining program vitality;
    • Participation in processes to improve quality of school/college, campus and University faculty experience; and
    • Participation in, selection, admission and retention of new students, including attendance at admissions open houses, participating in admission interviews, new student orientation, and advising of students;
    • Submittal of grades, attendance, syllabi, and textbook orders in compliance with University established procedures and deadlines;
    • Perform other related tasks, duties and responsibilities as required, assigned or directed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Doctorate in Counselor Education & Supervision, from a CACREP accredited program; ABD candidates may be considered (PhD must be conferred by the position start date)  OR a related doctoral degree and have been employed as a full-time faculty in a counselor education program for a minimum of one full academic year before July 1, 2013.
  • Experience:  one (1) year of demonstrated, successful graduate level teaching, working in a Clinical Mental Health Counseling capacity (i.e. internships, graduate assistantships, professional work experience), and college teaching in both on ground and online environments.  Preferred experience with or knowledge of CACREP standards. Including ability to assist in assessing program curricula, program outcomes, student learning outcomes and evaluating operational policies and procedures for the program.
  • Certifications, Licenses, etc.: Licensed or licensed-eligible as Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor – LPCC in the State of California. Professional identity as a professional counselor and counselor educator as evidence by active membership in appropriate counseling associations.
