Summer 2025 Internship: Property Accounting Intern
Location: Indianapolis
Are you a student looking to gain hands-on accounting experience with one of the leading real estate development companies? Thompson Thrift is seeking a dedicated Property Accounting Intern to join our corporate team in Indianapolis, IN, for Summer 2025.
What You’ll Do:
- Assist in Preparing Financial Statements: Gain experience producing monthly and quarterly financial statements for our real estate entities under the supervision of senior accountants.
- Support Construction Loan Draws: Collaborate with project managers to review project costs and assist in overseeing monthly loan draws for properties under development.
- Contribute to Acquisitions & Turnover: Work alongside our accounting team to assess insurance needs and contribute to property acquisitions, project turnovers, and dispositions.
- Learn to Ensure Financial Accuracy: Participate in handling general ledger entries, depreciation schedules, and resolving accounting issues with guidance from experienced professionals.
Additional Internship Responsibilities Include:
- Helping to code invoices, process payments, and maintain recurring payables for assigned properties.
- Assisting property managers with budgeting and reporting on asset acquisitions.
- Supporting the preparation of lender reporting, tax assessments, and year-end financial reports.
- Learning about monitoring tax obligations and maintaining accurate property records.
What You Bring to the Internship:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with an interest in learning real estate accounting software.
- A strong interest in real estate or public accounting.

Our full-time, 12-week internship program runs from May to August and is designed to offer you hands-on experience, meaningful connections, and significant growth opportunities:

- Participation in the TT Intern Serve event, collaborating with a local partner to positively impact our community.
- Cross-departmental meetings to understand the various facets of Thompson Thrift’s operations.
